How awful that the government doesn't want people dying when your hovel [sic] falls over.

It's one thing to not allow it because I'm in close proximity to my neighbors. It's one thing to not allow it because I will allow entrance to uninformed people. But if it's in the middle of nowhere, and I'm the only person who will utilize it, I should not require a permit.

Requiring that you demonstrate the most minimal level of competency before you throw a 2-ton chunk of metal at 70 mph toward other drivers isn't exactly a lack of freedom, either.

They're limiting what I can do, so yes it is.

If you own 20 acres, collecting every bit of water that falls on it could be devastating to the surrounding area. I mean, under the right conditions, you could literally create a drought and then sell naturally occurring water back to people. By the same logic, you could divert rivers for your own use.

And that should be legal. It's capitalism.

I think it's important to point out that I don't necessary agree with a few things here. For instance, I understand that drivers' licenses are a necessary evil. I'm only pointing out that they are not freedom.

You honestly think this? So literally any laws prevent you from being free as they limit what you can do? Please confirm, or deny and reconcile these viewpoints of yours.

Americans have some wild ideas about what freedom means

He sounds more like an AnCap though. Being able to divert rivers because capitalism is text book AnCap logic.

Ok - well let's just say for the sake of argument that the gov. doesn't believe that literally no people will ever enter your home. What if the police or FD have to go there, for whatever reason?

They're limiting what I can do, so yes it is.

They're also significantly increasing the safety of the average driver, giving them more freedom to drive, allowing commerce to occur, etc.

And that should be legal. It's capitalism.

slavery is also pure capitalism.

Riparian rights have been around and necessary since civilization existed. It's an example of one of those things that is just a requirement of living in any society - even societies that would be considered libertarian paradises by today's standards enforced riparian rights.

If you want to take the angle than any detraction from anarchy zone is a reduction of your freedom, then I guess you're right in a semantic sense.
