Yeah, it's really odd, but its not the first time I've seen someone singled out as Sri Lankan. Parkdale has a pretty big Sri Lankan community, so whenever some ass gets drunk in our growing hipster cool areas, you hear some direct call outs.

Any story bout racism is weird, this is just bizarre though, he was really dedicated to the cause

You also hear of people singling out other nations, such as Ethiopian, Nigerian, Cuban, etc. Just because racists tend to be ignorant does not mean that all are not aware of the differences between Sri Lankan, Indian and Pakistani. Maybe he found the one ass who knows the difference.

There is a fairly large Sri Lankan community, prolly just assumed Sri Lankan, like how some assume you are Chinese if you are East Asian

Couple blocks? This is new route is going from one side of downtown to the other, from Parkdale to the Distillery District, Dufferin to Sumach/Cherry. That is hella distance.

toronto 内の udunehommik によるリンク The 514 Cherry streetcar ready to roll across Toronto

[–]BlackDynamiteFromDa6 8ポイント9ポイント  (0子コメント)

The point of the route is to get more streetcars running on the busiest part of the 504 King route, between Dufferin and Cherry/Sumach, instead of every single streetcar having to go thru the less busy Dundas West-Dufferin and Sumach-Broadview sections.

The traffic is caused by streetcars? Thats news to me, living on King it seems to be the stupidly huge amount of cars with just one person in em, not the streetcars carrying dozens of people at a time.

So, pointing out the, various, things that police do wrong and asking for reform to create a better police force that can be more effective in preventing crime is hating police?

And, if the police are regularly harassing and abusing specific demographics, specifically black and brown people for no reason other than being black or brown, that gives said people a reason to hate police.

Not factual. I am a lower middle class young black male who attends university with no prior criminal history, was carded on multiple locations in various different neighbourhoods, and a number of times while walking class to class.

Who said it lowers racism in any way? Don't put words in my mouth. It doesn't impact racism in any way, increase or decrease because it is used as a term of endearment.

I would absolutely say this is true. Wait, so you actually believe, that nigga being used as a term of endearment within the black community is more harmful to race relations than racism, which gave birth to the word nigga? Confirmed white af, come on, this is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard.

BlackPeopleTwitter 内の CMurph2Cool4U によるリンク STOP SNITCHIN

[–]BlackDynamiteFromDa6 -1ポイント0ポイント  (0子コメント)

Huh? So using nigga within the black community is might build an us vs them mentality and subtle resentment towards people who have no control over insitutuional racism? Not the actual racism, discrimination and whole system being against minorities and specifically black people? Makes sense, the word nigga is more harmful to race relations than actual racism, this makes total sense /s

Using nigga as a term of endearment is gonna make you identify with a plight of injustice, not the actual injustice felt by everyone that looks like you.

Using nigga within the black community is gonna be a constant reminder that you are part of a disadvantaged group, not the fact that you are part of an disadvantaged group and feel the effects of that daily.

There is already an us vs them mentality and "subtle" resentment towards white people, and that has been there since slavery times, before nigga was commonly used as a term of endearment. Come on fam, have you ever walked thru any hood? You ever noticed how niggas grow quiet if a white person walks thru? Cause there is a whole thing of "be quiet when white people are around cause they always bring trouble", which has been around since slavery with the whole "just obey master and do what you are supposed to and no trouble will come to you".

There is nothing stopping you from using it, but if you do, there are usually consequences to it if you aren't an actual nigga or Black Latino, such as being labelled a racist and/or getting your ass beat.

It is because of the context of the usage. When two black people use it in conversation it is almost certainly used in its reclaimed definition of homie, friend, bro, etc. When a white person uses it, you are more unsure of the context, if they are racist, using it as a slur in a lowkey way and also that nigga was used for centuries as a way to further the idea that black people were subhuman, for example, the Three Fifths Compromise. White people are always waaaay more likely to use it in it's original context and definition and it is only very recently that it has started to be used less in it's original context outside of the black community.

Also, why do non-black people always be tryna control "nigga"? Yall got the whole system on yall side but can't let niggas have the word nigga? Yall cant let us have one word?

If someone I knew was killed, I still wouldn't want the police to break the law to figure out who. We should hold police (who are public servants who get paid via our tax dollars) to a higher standard than criminals. If the police are routinely breaking the law, they lose that moral high ground that is necessary to enforce those same laws.

Anthony Davis. From memory, he hasn't played more than (something around) 68 games a season and has played thru a number of injuries as well. And, everytime he is injured it is always a new part of his body rather than Derrick Rose and his knees or Joel Embiid and his foot.
