All subjective but Giggs was better than Bale at a younger age (probably up to 22ish) - Bales peak is now higher than Giggs', wouldn't say it was astronomically higher but definitely higher.
We'll see if he can have the longevity that Giggs had now.

The thing is, Bale uses his pace and power to dribble over the technique that giggs had including his pace.

Bale is no doubt a more impactful player and very effective. Just different types in some ways but likely one who would fade once his physical attributes drop a bit. Fade as in decline and not drop off to league two levels of course. Whereas for giggs, he could reinvent himself and still perform at a high level after slowing down. Bale's got time to work on those aspects of course.

Bale is better than Giggsy was in the international level but when we talk about club football, for me personally, Ryan is a better player. Not only because of what he was able to achieve but also because of how long he was able to adapt himself to keep playing at the top level. Bale carried Spurs when he was with them but Ryan never needed to as he had others doing their part at United for the most part. Both are top players and we need to see how Bale performs in the latter part of his career before we can make an informed decision on who's the better player when all the factors are taken into account but for now I'd pick Giggsy as the better player. The fact that he was able to win 34 trophies over 24 years playing for a single club is nothing short of brilliant.

I don't think the time is right to compare the two. I appreciate the effort in trying to make the comparison but it's not likely you could do one just yet.

Let's say Bale breaks his leg next game. Can you still make this comparison ? Will he be the same player that he once was ? All these are factors that many people don't assume.

If this was a perfect hypothetical, then sure I'll give it a go, I believe Giggs was better. As for my reasoning? He stood out but all eyes weren't on him. He would do wonders and the expectations of him being the best weren't there as well. The same way that I think Ronaldinho is prob top 5 players to have lived. He would make something out of nothing. Eyes were on him, but there were always more star studded players around him. Both players made their teammates better players and made them shine. I can revisit this after work if you care for it.

Thought I'd have a look at how they've each done in the Ballon d'Or:

Place Giggs Bale
9th 1 1
12th 1
14th 1
16th 1
21st 1
28th 1
30th 1
Nominated 3

Gigg's 9th place was in 1993 and Bale's in 2013.
