What is Pillarhub?
Pillarhub offers a unique and innovative approach to mobile computing - two portable 15 inch HD screens allow you to instantly increase your screen real estate, improving productivity and visibility. It is quick and easy to set up, connecting to your computer via a single USB 3 or USB C cable.
Pillarhub does not require a separate power source. It draws power from your laptop via the same USB cable use to connect the screens, allowing you the freedom to use it anywhere and anytime. The slim, padded carry case makes transporting Pillarhub easy and safe while the simple, sleek design means you can use it with any style of computer and it can fit right alongside your laptop in your carry bag.
Our Story
The Pillarhub team got together over the common frustration of find a truly portable monitor that was slim enough to not add too much extra bulk over the laptop. We were all fed up with fiddling with software or working with half hearted solutions. There was no one product or solution that we could take with us while traveling. After the frustrations cleared, we got our heads together and came up with the following checklist that would make the perfect solution for us:
- It needs to be light and portable
- It needed a good screen
- It needed to run with no power cables (or ability to charge)
- It needed to fit into my laptop bag
With that in mind we got to work and went through a few iterations before settling on a 2 screen system. There was always a fear that the second screen would add too much bulk and would make the product non-viable. We worked with our manufactures to chip away at the weight and slim down the panel until we are now confident that the added bulk is no longer a compromise.
We’ve since worked with a dozen manufactures to ensure the high quality of our panels and spend countless hours on the 3D printer prototyping parts to finalize Pillarhub. We believe that the powerless setup was a big leap and we are proud to share the Pillarhub product with the world. Help us spread the word so we can showcase our product to the world. Risks and challenges
After countless hours of design, engineering, and working with a dozen manufactures, we are ready to start production. We do not anticipate any major hurdles or obstacles and should be able to ship Pillarhub by Late 2016 to Early 2017.

We have spent months identifying manufacturers and suppliers for the first round of systems to be cost effective and able to scale.
Our decision to introduce the discounted "Early Bird" special was a conscious one to reward our early supporters; not to make a profit. We already invested in R&D for the project, so the nominal amount of loss on a per unit basis for the early backers who made it all possible was something we collectively decided was appropriate. The full retail price will be higher than any pricing stated on our Kickstarter page.

Our prototypes have been tested with both PC and Mac and the appropriate drivers are automatically downloaded to the computer upon first-use.

We are a small team of product specialists and designers, so please bear with us on any delays in response to your questions. We did not anticipate so much support so quickly, but will do our absolute best to respond to all questions in a timely manner.

Yes, current screen converts to portrait mode, but the stand does not support the screens in portrait mode as sturdy as in landscape mode as it was not it’s primary focus during development.
