Mahrez over Miki? (self.reddevils)

I was excited as the next guy when Raiola announced Miki wanted to join us, but after hearing numerous Dortmund/Bundesliga fan takes, I am weary.

Of course every transfer is risky, and I do think that Miki would succeed in our team at RW, but he is said to be a confidence player who can be plagued by inconsistencies and struggles in big games; Dortmund fans referenced how he opted not to take a penalty in the cup final shoot out.

Having watched most of LC's games last season, I can tell you Mahrez is absolute class. He is younger than Miki and obviously Prem Proven. I get that we don't have CL and LC does, but if we are going to drop 30 million pounds on a player in the last year of his contract, surely we should try and lure Riyad with a boatload of money. I think we at least stand a chance at securing the move.

Mahrez on the fact that he's premier league proven , many stars from different leagues need some time to adjust.

Most I think would prefer Mahrez but there's been a massive absence of rumours (bar the Arsenal one) which makes me think he's either indicated he's not interested in a move it has a very strict release clause

Most would not prefer Mahrez. Mkhi had a much better season and is easily the better player.

Mahrez is younger, in our league and was premiership player of the year in a much weaker time than Dortmund.

Prem proven counts a lot for me, a lot of players come over and fail to reproduce the numbers or performances due to playing harder teams without a break.

He'd definitely be my choice, plus his stats were better. Not worse.

Providing some statistics to ground your claim:

Mahrez in 36 BPL Apps scored 17 goals and had 11 assists

Mkhi in 28 Bundesliga Apps scored 11 goals and had 15 assists

Don't forget Miki had 23 goals and 32 assists in all competitions. I know it's a bit unfair since Mahrez only played in EPL, but that Miki stat is insane, almost Messi/Cristiano-esque.

Risk-wise, it's a bit the same. Yes, Miki will be new to EPL, but Mahrez will also have a tough challenge repeating his feat next season.

It's not quite that black and white. Yes, Mkhi has better stats, but they were in a less competitive league, and he was playing in the second best team in the league.

Mahrez on the other hand had an outstanding season playing against Man Utd, Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs etc.. He's found his feet in a much more competitive league.

Saying that, I'd be over the moon with either of them.

I would prefer mahrez. Not keen on how Mkhitaryan wants to be cuddled in order to gain confidence but let's see

While miki has had an insane season he's extremely mentally fragile. I had a conversation on the dortmund sub a day or two ago and you can go check it out. Their opinions are pretty varied and was definitely an interesting read

If we get either I wouldn't care which. We need an established top quality right winger. Not fussed which I just want a right winger pls.
