A look at Andreas Pereira

Andreas Pereira

The Manchester United U21’s were impressive over the 2015-2016 season winning the Barclays U21 Premier League. Andreas Pereira is a player who has had some impressive performances for the U21’s over the 2015/16 season he also made some first team appearances. In this article, I’m going to look at his strengths and weaknesses and also why I feel a loan move would be good for him.

Last season he made a total of 12 starts and one appearance from the bench for the U21’s in which he got eight goals and seven assists this is an impressive return for the attacking midfielder. He also got first team football this season making two starts and nine appearances from the bench in which he got his first senior goal for the club.

When watching Andreas Pereira this season he has produced moments of magic with his flair and dribbling ability. Moments where you can’t help but admire what he is doing with the ball. These are both definitely strengths in Pereira’s game.

Pereira is also confident with both feet which is a strength for any player. This is helpful when taking players on in attacking areas because he can go either way to get a shot off or find his next pass. He is also a very good set piece taker especially his free kicks. He demonstrated his ability from free kicks scoring one in the Capital One Cup against Ipswich Town.

He also has a great passing ability and vision these are also some of his key strengths. His range of passing is incredible. As well as his passing ability he also has a great attitude on the pitch working in attack and defence for the team when he is needed to.

Andreas Pereira already has good ability in most areas of his game. I feel his defensive qualities would be an area for improvement, however, this isn’t a key aspect of his game because he is as playing more as an attacking midfielder. But he can still improve all-round as a player, this is the same with a lot of young players.

I feel that he needs more experience within a first team environment, having played mostly at youth level during his career.  I think that a loan move would be ideal for Pereira because it would give him that first team experience but if he was to go on loan I feel it shouldn’t be aboard it should be within the Premier League so he can prove that he can play in the league. Not only that, he would also get to show Jose Mourinho that he deserves a spot in the Manchester United first team.

Overall Andreas Pereira is a very talented player with great potential. With work in training and also first team football, I feel that he could become a regular first team player at Manchester United. However, I think a loan deal would be the best move for him because I feel that if he performs while on loan he could get more first team football at Manchester United. He is definitely a player to look out for, for the future.
