I wouldn't call MGTOW an atheistic movement, but it's definitely got a strong representation of atheists. I would guess this is due to a preference for reason over faith. That sort of personality instinctively bucks under shaming and other fallacies. They tend to be the ones most receptive to being red pilled.

That said:

a set of beliefs that tell you to love your neighbor as you love yourself, charity, compassion

I agree is a good thing, and something that has been undermined by atheism, in the sense that it killed god, but didn't replace him, but you don't need to reach to god to believe these things. Moral philosophy, for example, comes to these conclusions without god. I also agree that the thought of something greater than yourself is useful, but again, it doesn't need to be god.

If you see that as control than really you're just running away from something.

The control element comes from the totalitarian nature of religions and how it is so easily manipulated by those in power.

I am an atheist and I make no secret of the fact. Probably a lot of people in the MGTOW spectrum are unhappy with the standard take on marriage in the churches and other religious bodies. A lot of us have thought about things long and hard and our understanding is based on reason and evidence not received revelation.

I assure you I am not running away from something. A lot of time and study has left me convinced that it is wrong to 'believe' in something for which there is no evidence be that in relationships or in theology.

Like atheism MGTOW is iconoclastic but it isn't inherently atheistic.

Religion was created in part to control the population. You don't need religion to be a good person.
