I don't think a "sex strike" is exactly what we are going for. I don't think abstinence in our personal lives truly concerns the government or transparency in voting/lobbying that sort of thing.

I was suggesting that we promote it for the women involved with those in powerful places. For those of us with no power, there's no need for a sex strike.

Interesting, so who specifically would be sex striking?

Wives, girlfriends, mistresses, sex workers involved with those in the Department of Justice and the FBI and possibly others that I'm not thinking of.

This is a very interesting thought. I have to say part of me really thinks it'd be an interesting outcome and possibly effective but considering we are (tentatively) just asking for transparency and third party audits/investigation I would hate to make this a gender issue or draw focus away from our primary cause. But maybe others will weigh in here and it could potentially gain some traction.

Transparency to expose corruption doesn't seem enough to me. It seems like people already know the government is corrupt and want something done. Maybe I'm wrong though. Is being able to see the corruption enough?

I don't see it as a gender issue. If men abstaining from sex for people in areas of influence will help then we should promote that as well.

I think the elephant in the room is we can all clearly see the corruption but are demanding third party audits to physically confirm this and force change. Once the evidence is undeniable then change must happen. Also, I just don't see how sex would have much if any effect really and it's a very difficult thing to coordinate or enforce. But like I said I'd be very interested to see the outcome and perhaps it will gain some traction either here or on Facebook.

How will it force change? How will it be different than previous protests?

If we could convince (especially women) of our cause and help them to see how effective it could be, I think it could make a difference just like the other historical sex strikes. Are you thinking that they weren't effective or why would this time be different?

it's a very difficult thing to coordinate or enforce

It would not be "enforced", just a growing movement that supports the cause enough to have it happen to (mainly) men in places of power.

Social networks can pass the word and peer pressure on to the women of men in places of power.

Something like: Demand justice! Don't have sex with the FBI until we get it!

I think once the results from a third party investigation prove undeniably the corruption then many Americans who call us whiny or conspiracy whackos or just living in general denial/complacency will be moved to enact change and our government will no longer be able to deny/hide these claims. There will be change. Maybe it'd be smart to add to our list of demands a formal press conference discussing the results and how they were reached and perhaps have the president be the one to make that announcement. I could be wrong about the effectiveness but I just personally don't think sex has anything to do with it. To be fair though I've yet to read that wiki page. I am running errands but when I get home I'll read up on it and decide how I personally feel about that at that time. But there are many many more people here and perhaps it will appeal to others as well!!

It's getting downvoted, so I doubt it will gain traction. The ideas are subtle and need more discussion from someone more talented than I am.

Did you ever hear about the Bush campaign finance charges that the AG was going to bring forward? If Hillary gets in power, she will have power to pardon herself. I also feel that the democrats are going to win big in the election for Congress so there will be little, if any, chance of removal from office. (requires 2/3rds of the senate to vote for conviction of the charges of impeachment from the house of representatives)
