I don't think people are sympathising with him, they're just sympathising with the all too common LGBT figure is ostracised by family/society/religion and kills self aspect of the story, which I understand, but I think people should probably reconsider the fact that it wasn't a suicide, it was a suicide by cop provoked by killing 50 innocents 49 innocents.

Not in a million years would someone bring up Islam in a negative light on the mainsub because unfortunately it's too touchy of a subject for some. Most people are being very vague about why they think he did it and are recognising that he was self-hating, but won't name Islam as a causation of that self-hatred.

I've seen it mentioned before on random shows, people on the left are afraid to talk about the problems to do with Islam at the risk of coming off as Islamophobic, even though there are clear ideals within Islamic ideology that are polar opposites to western ideals and would be considered barbaric by western standards eg. women must cover up or they're whores, women who are raped are to blame, gay people should be put to death, if you insult god you must die etc.
