Using this term against any random female character is exactly why people get so offended by its use.

Zinnia is an exceedingly awful character. I've explained why before.

Zinnia probably wouldn’t have bothered me too much if everyone didn’t keep going on about how she was the best character in Gen 6 (Which she definitely is not) She came off as more annoying than likable. I saw this quote on Gamefaqs and I think it perfectly describes her:

“Zinnia is the annoyingly stereotypical "I know everything and you know nothing, but I won't tell you anything until we're on the brink of destruction cause me knowing more than you is the only thing keeping me interesting".

Also, she’s really edgy. She knocks you out at one point, and she’s shown to be physically aggressive to people such as your friend next door and even Maxie/Archie. This wouldn’t be so bad if she stayed a villain, but the writers clearly want you to feel sympathy for her near the end. She even has a typical “tragic” backstory. “Someone close to me died, but I won’t tell anyone the exact circumstances, so they won’t be able to help me get over it!”!

She’s also a little crazy. Not crazy enough where it can be seen as a likeable character trait (Like say, Deadpool), but just unhinged enough to make you feel really uncomfortable.

Also, she’s a gigantic hypocrite. She goes up to everyone in the Devon Corp and even talks shit to Steven about how irresponsible they’re being over sending the meteor to another dimension. Well it seems she conveniently forgot how she just orchestrated the awakening of a Primal beast that would’ve drowned/burned the world. It’s a shame too, because her battle music really is outstanding. She just doesn't deserve it

Her awfulness as a character has nothing to do with her gender you sjw.

Edit: Okay, so apparently I shouldn't have called you an sjw, but I don't understand why you got offended over the term Mary Sue. I'm fairly sure OP wasn't using it as a sexist insult or as a way to call her gender inferior, they were literally just saying she was a cliche awful character.

And my understanding of a Mary Sue is a cliche, awful character. So I don't see the problem.

That doesn't make her a Mary sue, in fact it's more or less the complete opposite. My point was that using that term incorrectly completely devalues its meaning and makes something about gender when it should be about what a bad character she is. It weakens your own argument and makes you look like an idiot.

Especially when you then get upset and fly into a rage about "sjw's".

            Sorry, but I don't understand how the usage of Mary Sue in this context is Incorect? My understanding of a Mary Sue is an awful, cliche character. This describes Zinnia perfectly. While my remark of sjw may have been uncalled for, you're the one who assumed the Mary Sue remark was a jab at her gender, when it was a very obvious jab at her awful cliche back story and character.

            A Mary Sue is an idealized and seemingly perfect fictional character, a young or low-rank person who saves the day through unrealistic abilities. Often this character is recognized as an author insert or wish-fulfillment.

            A female fanfiction character who is so perfect as to be annoying

            I'm going to reply to you with the same thing I said to OP. My intent is not to offend, I'm genuinely not sure how what I said was offensive or cancerous.
