The Journey of Rewa Stone
The Rewa stone marble is a metamorphic rock found along the river Rewa, one of the holy rivers in India. It flows through the plateau rocky region and is an integral part of local life and culture. The constant interaction with stone has developed a unique art form in the local community and has passed from one generation to another.
The Rewa marble is a bit soft and easy to work when first quarried and becomes extremely hard and dense with age. It is also available in a variety of shades and patterns. The White Rewa Stones were among the marbles used to build The Taj Mahal, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, making it extremely popular among the visiting tourists. And now, after about 400 year, we are now using the same elegant stone to build Rewa Frustum.
The Rewa stone is selectively handpicked for Rewa Frustum making each unique from the beginning. These stones are carried through the river in local boats to our workstation. A group of finest craftsmen, belonging to 4th and 5th generation of local community sculptors checks it to confirm weight, fineness and smoothness. Even the most sophisticated hands have to invest good time to bring out the perfection. This critical balance is necessary to ensure that the frustum and the dice fits and complements each other.
Procedure :
- We begin with a group of marble expert locals riding with one of our crew members on a boat to the Govt. licenced Marble quarry along Rewa River.
- All selected Rewa Stones are brought to the workstation and washed.
- An expert artisan closely checks and removes any unsuitable or weak marble.
- Marbles are separated on the basis of colour, thickness, hardness and finally cut into blocks with equal weight.
- Artisans using our given measurement standards starts cutting and carving them.
- Frustum Leafs are carved using hand tools to keep it authentic and elegant.
- Frustum weight and width are regularly checked ensuring standards are maintained.
- A square shape is cut from the block and drilled using different size drill bits.
- The square weight is measured and given fine edges.
- The beautiful frustum and purposeful dice are joined and given final touch.
- The Rewa Frustum is cleaned and final measurement standards are checked.
The firm determination to create something artistic yet useful led to a two pronged approach.

The Artistic Frustum
The frustum is the very soul of this artwork. It is pyramidal in shape and engraved on all the four sides. The designs have their origins in the local folklore. In this particular design, the seven leaves signifies the power and purity of the seven holy rivers of India, Rewa being one of them, signifying long journey this piece of art has covered.
The Multi-Purpose Dice
The square dice is the multipurpose part of the Rewa Frustum. It makes Rewa Frustum much more than just a souvenir. The dice consists of six square faces, five of which have varying sizes of circular holes and the sixth one is a pin holed incense holder. Its generic design provides you the flexibility to use it in the ways your mind visualize.
The Rewa Frustum has a square base 2.4 inches, height 2.5 inches (4 cm) and the Dice is a cube with side 1.5 inches.
Both Dice and Frustum are made of pure marble making it completely safe, Non-toxic (No paints or enamel used) completely natural and purely handcrafted where cutting and drilling is done using hand tools and transportation through local boats in river keeping minimal carbon footprint.

The Rewa Frustum have many uses. We are sure its generic design will help you use in many profound ways. To give you a general picture we have collected a few scenarios where Rewa Frustum could be your companion.
One of the biggest task for us was to ensure an affordable shipping charge for our backers who could be anywhere in the globe. We started the search for the best and cheapest fulfillment services two months before the start of Rewa Frustum project. Most of the fulfillment services gave us hefty quotations, but we didn’t give up.
We have finally selected three fulfillment services with best rates. Our first priority is to reduce the shipping charges for countries with good number of backers as much as possible. A big consignment to a country will reduce substantial shipping cost by reducing customs fees & VAT.
Rest assured that we will be doing our utmost to reduce these charges to the strict minimum, free if possible. Depending on the number of backers from different regions. However, it is possible that during the campaign, these zones become shipping friendly.
We will keep you updated with any reduction in shipping charges during or after the campaign. Backers will be refunded the reduced shipping charges at the end of the campaign.

Risks and challenges
The manufacturing and packaging process of Rewa Frustum is already figured, we have tested the packaging by successfully sending it to three different countries with no breakage or damage. We are trying our best to reduce the shipping charges to as low as possible, even free which hugely depends on the support and the number of backers coming in.
