Solid snake bonus level - sneak BTC reading material into Banks

Imagine if we all did this for like a month around the world, oh the fun lol.

Just to confirm, is Chase still randomly punishing people they suspect of having something to do with Bitcoin?

Wait, what the actual fuck? Source?

All taken from the first result page from a search for "chase reddit bitcoin". There are many more.

Note that last link, the most recent of the lot, indicates mere obstruction rather than termination, so maybe they're softening their stance a bit. Who knows.

Just as an anecdote for people concerned: I've used my Chase checking account, which was open for a total of about 2 weeks prior to using it, to buy BTC - and a decent amount, fairly regularly for 6 months. I also use it as my main checking account, but I've never had a problem, an email, a call, etc - nobody has ever said peep about my BTC activity. The only services this account has interacted with, however, are the very well known Circle and Coinbase, so that could be a big part of it. I imagine payments to relatively unknown services, activity primarily/solely focused on crypto, doing wires to foreign exchanges, or receiving regular cash deposits to your account (from LBC selling or some such) raise the flags a lot sooner.

I stopped doing BTC business through Chase once I heard the horror stories, but for your average Joe using well-known services it's probably fine.

Same here. I actually LIKE Chase. I don't buy BTC all the time, but when I do its through coinbase and no one has said or done anything

Interesting. For what it's worth I've been using Chase with Circle for years, but nothing "suspicious"... mostly dollar cost averaging.

Nice one, we designed that cover! Nice to see it out in the wild.

Maybe better the whole bitcoin community could leave a copy at their doctor or dentist waiting room...Those things stay there forever. Better than a Popular Mechanics from 2008.

Gentlemen, I suggest we make this a gorilla campaign. Extra points for each new bank brand. I think I am going to get some "Bitcoin accepted here" stickers........

You can contact yBitcoin magazine at their website and they'll send you a box for free if you want to "place" them in various locations. They're an amazing intro.

I've been doing it for a couple years now and have seen many people grab them immediately after I put them somewhere. The curiosity factor the public has about Bitcoin is sky high.

I have actually been doing something similar, but usually at Bitcoin events, or by Bitcoin ATMs, but bank waiting rooms is PERFECT!!!! Pure genius.

It's probably some type of city ordinance violation to deposit trash at a place of business. They can spin it, get you fined.

That seems more like it's going to give us a bad name as people who go around putting stickers in places they shouldn't be. Like skaters do to road signs. It won't get anyone taking, just give BTC a rep for being annoying.

Would this be located in the same parking lot as a McDonald's Carl's JR and an LA Fitness by chance?

[–]BitttBurger[S] [スコア非表示]  (4子コメント)

San Diego 365 West Washington Street and yBitcoin magazine. Newest Issue can be seen here: https://issuu.com/ybitcoin/docs/ybitcoinmagazine

Ahh. I knew this looked like San Diego but I had pegged it at a different location, a bit north of the 8 / 125 interchange on Navajo Rd. I guess Chase Banks must all have a similar layout in this city.

Man, once I emailed BOA support on how to deposit my bitcoins into my bank account. The guy on the other end must have been super confused because he outlined a way for me to make deposits. Eventually it turned into a "we don't support Bitcoin deposits YET."

Wow, do people still actually go INTO banks over there? It's become almost a thing of the past for most people in UK, banks typically converted to Bar's.

Glad you asked, actually. They had taken my most active business account and disabled my debit card on their own whim, because they decided it was time to send me a new one with a chip in it. When I called to demand info on why my various business relationships were being suspended due to non-payment, they informed me that I could either wait 2 weeks for them to mail me a new card, or I could drive my ass all the way to a branch and waste 45 minutes of my day having a new one made.

Given that no human on earth should have to wait 2 weeks for anything to come via snail mail, I opted for the branch option, complaining the entire way there. I went to the nearest one in downtown San Diego, had to find street parking, pay for a meter at a machine that required a credit card, stuck the tag on my dashboard and waited inside the branch to see someone. (yes im complaining about the various manual elements of this process).

When I finally saw someone, I was informed that this particular branch did not have the machine to make cards, so they'd like to know if I wanted to have my card mailed to me with a 2 week wait. o_O

Or they could "rush it to me" for only a $15 fee and it would get here in 3 days. o_O

I told her the whole point of going to the branch was to bypass the 10 business day mailing option. So I was forced to drive to another part of town and start the process all over again.

Wild goose chases throughout town and putting out physical time and effort to jump through hoops at bank branches is still a thing. I'll let others comment on why Bitcoin may be superior in this regard. But this is what happens when someone else controls my money.

Now they are going to close your account after they check up the CCTV.
