I would in any case, vegan or omni, be grossed out by someone breastfeeding their 5 (no wait, 15) year old kid? It seems unnatural because of the relationship and intimacy mostly, not because of the nutritional value or anything. And it would in fact be better to drink it from a glass, rather than straight from the patatas, as is the case with cow's milk.

No one talked about a 5 years old here! Personally, I started getting shitty comments about breastfeeding as soon as my son turned one. WHO recommends that you should (if possible of course) breastfeed until the age of two (with the addition of solid food from 6 months old).

Also, kids don't sexualize "patatas" like you do, and it's an intimate mother/baby relationship, like a dad taking a bath with his 3 years old daughter is intimate, like when your child falls asleep on you is intimate. It's not sexual.

My daughter's pediatrician told me I should stop breastfeeding when my daughter turned one. She said there was no more nutritional value for the child and that I was doing it for myself at that point, not for my baby. Then she told me I should feed my baby "at least eggs" because they are "nature's perfect food."

(Update: My baby is one and a half now. Still breastfeeds, still does NOT eat eggs.)

Yeah, every major health organization agrees with you. You're doing fine

My wife got told all sorts of bullshit by our pediatrician regarding breastfeeding. Know that at least one random stranger on the Internet is outraged in solidarity for you.

Our daughter is almost 2.5 and still nurses occasionally we aren't worriesd it's not like she is Robin Arryn or something.

Kids used to breastfeed until 5 or 6 all the time. It's not gross, it's natural. Much like a calf is supposed to do it for a certain amount of time. What is gross is that we (humans) kidnap a baby and take the milk from it.

Not taking a side here, but can we stop using "it's natural" as a justification for doing something? It doesn't really mean anything.

Why? It's natural to breastfeed, it's not natural to drink cows milk. That's the point here.

The point shouldn't be that it's not natural to drink cow's milk, but that it's not ethical. Whether or not it's natural is irrelevant.

Because whether something is natural or not is really a matter of perspective. Why is consuming dairy unnatural? Some humans have been doing it for thousands of years and some ethnic groups evolved adult lactose tolerance so that they could easily consume dairy. How is that not "natural?"

It also has literally no bearing on whether something is "good." Eating meat, for example, is extremely "natural" in that humans have always done it and our bodies are designed for it. But I'm sure you and I both agree that eating meat when you have other food options is unethical.

The average across the world is 2-4 years old. In the US over two years is considered extended.

I'm not denying what is current. Just what used to be.

The comic also didn't specify and the picture looks small. Kid is probably a year old or so.

There's nothing more natural than breastfeeding.
