Did they not post here for a while?

Aye, the owner showed up in the thread about the advert iirc.

I'm sure they'll be here any minute saying we're shilling for Taco Mazama.

just fyi - taco mazama are a real shower. A friend of mine worked for them and was docked wages for being late. He was told to either accept this or be sacked.

When a member of staff works there for 23 months they are told to sign to sign a new contract. This is to prevent them from being considered properly employed and allows Taco Mazama to sack them at any time for no reason, including things like 'not weighing out portions properly'. Properly, properly dodgy company.

Yeah, I have some friends who worked there (and know a couple that have been there for years). One's since left due to some of the same shit you've mentioned, but is trying to get all her old coworkers unionised.
I hope she succeeds, as a lefty who sadly loves their burritos.

We deliver ingredients to them, Value everything.

Really wish they would get back to how they were at the start. With Barburrito taking over Pinto it's going to get worse and worse. There is scope for top grade mexican takeaway in the city centre, topolabamba is ok for sitting in and bibis is excellent but for takeway the options are dire.

Bibi's is the shiiiit but yeah it's a bit of the way and usually booked up on weekends so it's not really somewhere you'd drop by casually.

Illegal Jacks should get in on the Glasgow scene. Awesome food there.

I'm hoping for Luck Lust Liquor and Burn.

Well that would be useless because signing a new contract does not negate the rights acquired after 24 months of employment.

it might not be 24 months - whatever their 'probation period' is?

Or telling us to fuck off to Greggs if we don't want to spend 8 quid for toast and egg.

Oh, but don't you know, it comes with a spread of insufferable, unmerited, transparently affected pretention, so thick it makes Hillhead Bookclub look like the fucking Coontin Hoose...

What a stupid name for a restaurant

Aye they probably should have called it Something Else.

I went last year as a lot of friends had been and said it was decent, but in all honesty, it was over priced tat that you could have made at home.

You can make any food at home if you have the time, money, and skill.

Paging /u/smoogstag

Thanks for making my Sunday slightly less boring.

I think it's made everyone's Sunday a bit more entertaining.

Never heard of it. Owner sounds like a try hard oddball. Won't be going. 12 months till it folds.

Didn't Something shut down a few months ago now? I always really enjoyed the food there and wasn't put off by the guy's attitude. It was usually total spanners he was replying to online. But it would have probably done better in the West End than in Clarkston.

I quite liked the place- the food was excellent, if a bit pricey, but I thought that might be a reflection of both the quality of the ingredients and the fact it was on Clarkston high street where presumably the rent was extortionate and the footfall was poor.

Thanks, and yeah, that's exactly it.

It's yourself! Any plans to do Something Else? Aching for some quality veggie food...

Absolutely. Open again in less than two months, this time downtown. Tons of new veggie stuff for you to try. I'll keep you posted.

I work in the city centre, and often have lunch out, and your kind of food sounds like exactly the kind of stuff I would like to eat and is mostly lacking around the middle of the town - interesting variety, a tendency towards vegetables without actually being haughtily vegan, complete plates of food that cover all the nutritional groups, so I can eat something more exciting than a Tesco meal deal once or twice a week but isn't just a mass of lard and cheese. It could be great, and it fits a gap in the market.

But I'll advise you one thing - your internet presence is a fucking bombsite. I considered going out of my way to visit Somewhere, but for every bit of information on the internet about your food, there's three of four about your own personal life and issues, your travails with staff, your inability to serve customers at busy times. That does not attract me as a customer.

You really need to separate your personal life from your business, as far as social media is concerned. If/when I'm your customer coming in for lunch, for all you know, I'm also in the middle of a 14-hour day that's going to shite, with all manner of issues on my mind. I don't for a second even want to consider that the place where I might take refuge in the middle of my working day is going to add to that stress. All I want to know is that I'm going to get a plate of good food and a quiet corner to eat it in. I genuinely couldn't give a shit if the person who made it is having a good day or not - obviously I hope they are, but as I don't know them personally or socially, it's just not on my radar. Maybe if I became a regular I might eventually care.

I know you have some connection to Spitfire, and they are a perfect exemplar of the issue - awesome coffee, great food, perfect location, not unreasonably priced, and I would be in there twice a week, but you know what? I haven't been there for months because every time I go in, aside from the chaos and the seemingly inability to cope with more than 3 tables of people, I get the owner's fucking life story and all the problems he's having with keeping it going, and I simply cannot be arsed with that. All I want is a coffee, presented to me by someone who understands that when I ask, "how's it going?", it's not a genuine question. They've scared off half their clientele.

A successful 'mom n pop' business is about projecting the image of a happy family, even if you're completely dysfunctional in reality. Hide that shit from us.

That makes sense. And if you were to come in, that's likely what you'd get. The Internet version of the place and the brick and mortar version are wildly different. That's what FOH are for. To be all smiles and chat while the sweat and heart attacks are happening in the back.

Also, don't judge the place by this post. OP photoshopped together about six bad reviews out of 600 to make me look like a dick. Go to our actual FB/tripadvisor/etc. It's 90% positive and I genuinely like our customers.

Still, I get what you're saying. Stop in when we're open and see for yourself. I'll make sure it's not a shambles when you arrive.

hang on a minute - north american chef, far from home, cooking a wide and continuously changing menu of esoteric dishes to a provincial community of ungrateful gastronomic philistines, all in order to fund your wife, and reacting vitriolically to anyone who does not find your creations to their taste....

...are you Adam from Northern Exposure?

I wish. Adam was the best.

Ace. Wish you guys smooth sailing, can't wait to visit!

I hope you keep up the 'no bullshit' style replies to people reviewing on trip advisor, etc. I'm finding the recent trend of standing up to over-entitled customers very amusing!

And the people are easily offended snowflakes :)

I'm still digesting that haggis baguette from Something.

These guys made shit hot food and Glasgow is a poorer place for their absence.
