I got a reply back (and they refunded my money).

Sorry that you feel that our level of communication has not met your expectation. We've been working hard behind the scenes since our last update to resolve the production issue regarding part flatness. This issue is critical and takes time resolve and confirm before we can provide further information. We've provided the most detailed account of this issue here on Kickstarter to our original backers. I will be posting an update this week once the solution is confirmed. Since I can't provide you with the update in the time you requested, I've gone ahead and refunded your pledge in full.

I'm going to go ahead and call bullshit on the part I highlighted. After seeing so much more communication everywhere else, all this guy had to do was pop into the Kickstarter and tell people the same thing he's telling everyone else... "Hey guys, we should have a shipping/production plan available in the next week or so, hang in there!"

That's all it takes! People would be happy with that. Of course, that is, unless you can't actually come up with a plan in the next week - but that's what they're telling other people on Facebook and such, so why couldn't they just tell the Kickstarter backers that?

Unfortunate side effect, since I got my refund, I can no longer see the "backer only" updates.
