In our last update, I was to return to our manufacturer to review our latest trials. After weeks of testing, spanning several trials, they were unable to process a part that met our specifications. Without that part, we are unable to move forward with production. If they had been able to resolve the issues, and by every measure they should have been able to, we would have manufactured and shipped all the product for the campaign by now. Before they began the last trial I informed them that if they couldn’t deliver a part that met specification, that I would pull our program from the facility, which I did.
That same day, I was on the road, reviewing potential facilities that needed to meet a very difficult set of requirements:
*The right size and number of machines required to run the program
*Available capacity on that equipment to meet our volume requirements
*Run a 24/7 facility to maximize production
*Have the in-house expertise to produce parts that meet our specifications
The above may seem like a simple set of conditions to find, but it’s next to impossible on short notice. I was unsure how long this process would take. This sort of program is usually placed months in advance. There was no other choice given the failure of our previous facility. I needed to confirm everything on our end before I could provide an update and revised timeline.
I’m happy to report that I have been able to source another facility. I sent them a mold to trial, and I am happy with the results.
So now begins the process of getting the rest of the tooling into their facility, being fit into their production schedule on top of their existing programs, validating the additional tooling on the machines on which they will run and getting the required materials onsite.
In order to get everything in place, we are delayed 30 days from today on shipping product. If we can find further efficiencies to expedite the process we will. That means that product will ship starting July 13th. We will provide further updates as we come online at the new facility, and when the first batch of product leaves for shipping.
Once product is shipping, tracking info and updates will be provided to backers as product leaves the distribution centres.
We are fully committed to getting your product as soon as we are able, and have been working hard behind the scenes since our last update to make that happen. It was a big decision to pull the program, but it was the right thing to do.
Sincerely,
Nick Petty
