This has been brought up many times before. I'm surprised the best answer hasn't been posted yet. The safest response is the most predictable response. Smart cars aren't going to make value calls on human life. They will act predictably. They will slow down as quickly as possible.

"No, self-driving cars won't be clever enough to even attempt to make those kind of calls.

Something outside of typical happens: Slow down and stop as fast as possible, minimizing damage to everyone involved. Don't swerve, don't leap off ledges, don't choose to run into nuns, none of those ludicrously convoluted scenarios that philosophers like to wheel out and beat up their strawman with. Engineers are building these things, not philosophers.

I'm in my third semester, so I will take your word for it. But that is what I've heard. I can't wait until I get to insert an IV for the first time and I found out for myself.

Do you think though, it's bad for health care providers to rely on it to much. Use it as a tool, but don't lose your training. It's like calculating drug dosage, BP, or drip factor. It's nice that a machine can do it for you, but what if you don't have it.

Did she even get the stick. LOL I didn't see any blood return. This is cool to look at veins, but not very practical. The real key is to feel for veins. My Clinical instructor said she would get a blind nurse to stick her over a nurse using one of these machines.

Or just say, yeah I changed my dogs name to billy bob or something and just continue to call your dog whatever you want. I'm sure your dogs name will never come up in conversation. And if they ever do drive 4 hours to your house just internally laugh when they call your dog by the wrong name and he comes running every time they talk about their son.
