didn't they say that once? this is all just off the top of my head and I don't even "follow" Paleho's comments. They've said a ton more weird and conflicting things about their personal life for anyone paying attention

who tf is Paleho...they're a trans person, an immigrant hater, a super nationalist, a dog walker who lives in Florida, a Glambert? Their political affiliations/identity honestly make no sense.

yeah Steve and Ian were definitely different types within the "nerd" casting. Ian is super smart and interested in typically "nerdy" things, but I'm sure has a ton of similarly-minded friends and actually does know how to interact with others. Steve was just generally socially awkward, which caused him to not have many friends growing up per the livefeeds. His "nerdiness" was more based on his personality and appearance than his interests. I would say Steve is more similar to Joel than Ian.

interesting that no queens have tried to swing that one for camera time/popularity yet...Televised, PG-rated gay romance, even if mostly hypothetical (à la Zankie from Big Brother) is such a ratings grab that I can't imagine why Ru isn't chomping at the bit for it.

there's a special level of cringiness for "confident, above-it-all" queens who are threatened as fuck by anyone younger, prettier, more fashionable, or more talented than them (see: Raja, Raven, Willam, etc.). "BUT REALLY! It's not because they're more relevant and popular than me it!!! it's because of this one small imperfection that I'm going to magnify all over my social media because I'm threatened by the transience of my relative popularity!"

totally cringey. I do think that as a queen Roxxxy is pretty set looks/mug wise, but all of her looks on RPDR Season 5 were definitely not toots. Hearing Raven rave about her subpar ensembles like they were genius, high-fashion takes on drag was so hard to watch.

BLOOP!! BTDQ clapped back!

ya know, I never understood the obsession with Raven here. Yes, her makeup is snatched, but she doesn't really exceed in anything else (fashion, acting, dancing, performing, comedy, singing, etc.). In fact, I think if she competed nowadays she wouldn't come close to second because she lacks the dynamism of current RPDR queens. Her title as "the queen who was robbed" is pretty outdated, and now fits better with girls like Alaska/Katya who far exceed her drag talents imo. Bloop.

I also found the "fan question" asked to her about losing her virginity kind of gross...I understand it was supposed to be a funny moment, but Ru is acting as if the requirements to being "authentic" in the LGBTQ+ community are being out and having sex. Kim doesn't need to be out to her mother nor does she need to have sex before she is ready to prove her gayness!

[Serious] Ru and a number of people seem to have a lack of understanding when it comes to Kim Chi and her mother

RuPaul fails to realize that you can't force vulnerability...that destroys the purpose. Someone is vulnerable when they reveal a softer side of themselves in a situation where they would usually be tough and non-plussed. Asking someone to do a specific "vulnerable" thing and them doing it is not vulnerability...It was actually more vulnerable for queens like Kim and Pearl to not conform to Ru's wishes, in my eyes, because it was more authentic.

Cassandra during the Finale

she is odd because she was clearly cast as the "big ego sassy girl," but you could see that she was actually super insecure. She never held all of her "sassy" poses long enough or said all of her "sassy" comments loud enough.

A user thinks Kim's looks are pretty repetitive. Catfights ensue.

amen. Her outfits are repetitive and I've never understood the hype around her makeup, which is usually pretty simple and geometric. She's a lovely person, but hailing her as a fashion queen makes no sense to me, and excusing all of her weak spots as a drag queen (aka anything that doesn't involve looks--walking, talking, performing, moving, etc.) is just delusional.

RuPaul spilling some T about Drag!

for me it becomes problematic when people (even some users of this sub) are pointedly against women dressing in drag. If drag is a celebration of femininity--a trait/attitude/way of being that has been oppressed, demonized, and silenced historically--then women have to be allowed to partake in it as well. We are celebrating that not all of us can fit into a masculine, heteronormative society by centering traits that are often frowned upon, in both men and women.

When drag becomes offensive to me (and yes, it does sometimes even though I am a huge fan of RPDR and all things drag) is when it becomes a bunch of cute, skinny white boys slapping on makeup, adopting a "stupid" persona, and calling each other "cunts" (see Skim's audition tape--not necessarily offensive but I think that young, attractive queens like her should definitely be conscience about where they are mocking or celebrating women). That's not a celebration of femininity, it is a mockery of it that feeds into larger oppressive systems, ironic or not. Queens should be conscious about why so many of them center "stupidity" in their drag persona, and what about this speaks to mainstream ideas of women and femininity just bleeding over into the drag world.

People calling this the "Strongest Top 3 Ever"

agreed! People often disregard Season 5's Top 3 but that Top 3 was stunning. Jinkx and Alaska are two of the best, most well-rounded queens to ever appear on Drag Race, and Roxxxy has pageant, comedy, and glamour--a combination that a lot of queens dream of having.

I would rank Season 8's Top 3 pretty middle of the pack...Below Season 3, 4, and 5 in my opinion.

So no, she doesn't deserve a win on her runway alone.

Also her runway hasn't even been that good. Look at her outfits and not her makeup and you will be shocked by how simple most of them are. Also, I've never understood the hype behind her makeup, even before she was ever announced to be part of the cast.

how is that look any different from any other queens who have painted their face for a full illusion, like, say, Acid Betty? And how is her drag more artful than anyone else's drag? That "defense" Kim Chi fans use to justify her hypothetical win needs some reference work. And what about it is so different? Her makeup is great but not that different--even her out-there looks are comparable to Acid or Detox or Jinkx (Night of the Dead) on the show. And her outfits are usually pretty simple.

When people honestly believe anyone but Bob is going to win season 8

seriously. Why do Kim Chi stans think they can qualify her hypothetical victory with "well her drag is new and it is fine art"? That's so delusional...You could make that argument with any look queen. I don't understand what about Kim's drag is new, and anyone who claims that it is new provides no cultural references. And that's probably because her drag references 2001 McQueen-isms, not the fashion future.

When people honestly believe anyone but Bob is going to win season 8

You didn't answer any of the questions...this is a list of "yes, but" statements. "Yes she can't really perform or dance but...she has cool makeup!" Also you fail to qualify any of your statement of her bringing to the crown "art" and "modernity" to the title with any evidence. What about her drag is more artful than past winners? What about her drag is more modern than the past winners? This is my problem with Kim Chi stans...they assert that her drag is innovative or artful or new and never qualify what makes it that way other than "personal taste." Show me the fashion/art references, paleho 2.0!

Also your tone is really pointed. This comment is really embarassing and probably will be subject of one of those "look at how crazy this sub was last year" threads in the future. I'm not a Kim Chi hater--nor is it really possible to be one, her personality is absolutely darling and she's a total sweetheart. Also I would never fat-shame her and do not appreciate that you claim that I do...first of all she isn't fat and second of all I was just calling out how users of this sub often claim that her outfits are innovative when in reality they're often simplistic, an exposed corset over a tube dress or an exposed leotard with feathers/hair/whatever glued to it. Nothing in there has anything to do with her being curvaceous.

I would love to hear someone explain why her looks are conceptual.

Also I physically cringe whenever I hear someone call her drag "fine art." Comparing a Kim Chi long dress and exposed corset with thick, simple geometric makeup to fucking Pablo Picasso or Caravaggio or van Gogh is so ridiculous it can hardly engender response.

she was floated through...her acting and high-pitched voice were largely unwatchable, but she could never have been put in the Bottom 3 because she can't lip sync and they wanted to keep her in because of her popularity.
