Fuck, I was originally going to post that version before I remembered Tumblr links aren't allowed and I forgot to post the links.

I feel like I'm reading a description of TF2 with words switched around

Yeah, that's what I thought too.

It's has animated shorts and comic books?

Honestly I thought it was just butts and shooting.

Overwatch really needs to step up their game.

Everyone knows you can't really be part of the fandom unless you actively hate Bastion POTG's and get paranoid when you hear RYUU GA WAKA TEKI WO KURAU

Huh. And here I was secretly feeling ashamed of myself for getting really into those characters even though I can't play shooters to save my life.

I mean, this isn't really limited to Overwatch. I can go online and look up lore for literally any game with lore in it and still understand what's going on if I read enough, regardless of if I've played that game or not

This is not actually a good thing though.

The story is all a lie that has practically nothing to do with the game. It's marketing, not lore.

I mean... not really? Every fighting game has lore and backstories and they generally are only there to make it more interesting.

If those games didnt have that it would be less interesting. Its not really marketing unless you consider making a game better is marketing but from that lagic even making a game could be considered marketing.
