If JKR had said something along the lines of: "Though I, along with everyone else, imagined Hermione as white, Skin color is not important for Hermione's character and there's no reason she couldn't work as black. I'm excited to see the character reimagined and you should try to be too."' I would have agreed with her 100%. People getting upset about this are being silly, but understandably so and definitely not racist. (though some of them may be)
