Tiny is a two issue comic adaptation of the classic fairy tale, Thumbelina, by Hans Christian Andersen.
About this project
Tiny is our comic book interpretation of the classic Thumbelina fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen. If you’re a fan of the fairy tale, we think you’ll like what we’ve done with it, changes and all. If you’re unfamiliar with the original tale, we don’t think that will matter and you’ll like it anyway. But a short summary goes like this: Tiny is the story of an unusual teen girl kidnapped from home and struggling to return home and to discover who she really is. Born small enough to fit into the palm of her mother’s hand, she desperately wants to find a place where she belongs, while fighting both to stay alive and to avoid being forced to be someone—or some thing she isn’t. She’ll meet trolls, moles, mice and insects, some of whom want to help her, some of whom wish to harm her.
We initially set out to do Tiny as a graphic novel, but after getting a chunk of the pages finished, we decided to split it up into two separate parts so that we could get the first part printed to show everyone exactly what it is we could do with this story. Here is the cover a a few pages from #1:
The cool news is that the first issue is complete. Twenty-six pages of story and art! Finished! We counting on that being part of our promise to you that we’re devoted to getting Tiny finished and into your hands. We still may do a collected volume later…but that’s in the future.
Art is also well underway for the second issue! Once completed, both issues will deliver a combined fifty-two beautiful pages of story and art!

There’s a big sampling of what you’ll see here on this page! But we do need your help. We’ve done our part in creating it—now we need help getting it into both your hands and into the hands of those who won’t see this kickstarter. We’ve done the work, so now we’re seeing if you can help us get the money to get the comic printed. And in so doing, you’ll get your very own copy of TINY! So, that’s it. And even if you can’t afford to help us out, if you like what you see, how about sharing it! We would appreciate it greatly! Thank you for taking a few minutes to give us a look.
Pledges
Thank you for giving our project a look. We hope you'll find a reward for you and we very much appreciate your support!
Risks and challenges
The biggest risk may be doing astronomically better than we anticipated and then being tasked with the signing and shipping of more product than we expected! We hope that is a problem we have.
We feel the real risks are small. While one can never anticipate "life," that's always a reality. One never knows what cards life will deal you. Fortunately, we're currently both in good health physically and emotionally.
Roland was an editor at Marvel and Malibu and ran a small press company for a time, he has a long editorial history of putting comics together and getting them to market in a timely manner.
