Hm. I'm not here just to hate on it-- because anyone up in drags lip syncing or belting it out deserves props!!

 

...it just felt very "Musical theatre does karaoke." I still say to this day the best three queens I've seen live are Courtney Act for her live singing and whole show(wo)manship. Nina West (Ohio queen) for her innovative and captivating theatrical productions (similar to the one woman show of Bendela & Jinkx's Vaudevillians). And Biance for turning comedy OUT in a gay bar.

 

I just think you should do things that would increase your booking fee-- Ivy juggling swords? YES. Max singing live? Maybe not something that will strengthen her act :P

Max can be hit or miss when it comes to his song choices. He can fucking slay Scars song on the lion king and its so fucking cool he sings that song and it works for his vocal range, and lets not lie here, his cover of I Wanna Dance is better than the original and the video is fantastic. There was also a video of him singing the afterlife by the squirrel nut zippers that he also did fantastically. I think he just kinda needs to work on the songs that work best for his vocals, and if he were to do some killer shit like fka twigs or something off the wall like a pc music(qt or gfoty/hannah diamond or SOPHIE) he could lip sync it and be completely killing it.

They say it's because she won 2 challenges, but in my opinion..

  1. her wins weren't that impressive and
  2. challenge wins on the show don't count for shit post-show when you are out in the real world and building your drag career. For instance, Alyssa and Laganja sucked at challenges but they are still very successful. Conversely, Max won two challenges but can't get gigs.

Yup, agreed. Neither of her wins were anything groundbreaking and she didn't exactly "kill" the competition the rest of the time like people claim (remember how awful her Merle and Courtney were?)

And you're right about her nowadays, but I mean, what exactly IS she supposed to be selling/doing? I mean is there even anything she can do exceptionally well enough to build a career?
