Lots of what-if's. While I agree Zlatan's stats may have been padded by playing with PSG, he's still a great player. I think he'll be kept in line by Mourinho based on all the things he's said about him.

Rashford has the opportunity to take more chances with Zlatan here rather than Auba, also that move could motivate Marcus to succeed Zlatan and could see him as mentor. Really don't get what's the difference scoring 50 goals against French teams or German teams? Has anybody watched Auba this season or you just watching his goals. He lost so many opportunities this season, for me Reus,Miki,Gundogan were better players. Auba is fast but Zlatan could also help us with his playmaking abilities and his experience winning titles are incomparable. Auba had only one top season and he is 27 years old.

Excellent post.

Well first off, I do believe that Zlatan currently is already past his best, it's just a case of his "past it" still being astounding and well worth seeking for a year and perhaps two depending on how he does next season.

The ego thing is always a potential problem but Mourinho and Zlatan's very good working relationship mitigates a lot of my worries. The risk of egos clashing at a top club is nothing new, especially at Old Trafford, and while Mourinho's Chelsea and RM stints could cause worry, I think there's enough respect b/w him and Zlatan for it not to blow up. That's of course even assuming that Zlatan performs badly enough to warrant getting benched by Rashford in the first place.

This is my main worry - Martial seems acclimatized to the left, unless Memphis can move to the right, I genuinely worry for the future of the latter. You have Rashford waiting to take up the striker role from Zlatan in a couple of years, Martial in Memphis' position performing far too well to be tinkered with so unless Memphis can adapt to the right (or we try Martial there, although we shouldn't since he's tearing the left side up for fun) then it's hard to see him be able to start.

Young was good, but you can't make team decisions to suit a utility player who's past his best instead of looking at investing in two talents like Martial and Memphis. He has a contract till 2018, so I don't think he's likely to leave by his own accord. He's pretty versatile and that should help with game time although if we have to play Young regularly, we probably are doing something wrong.

I do agree Auba is a better long term option, but given the youth we have in attack, isn't a experienced Talisman (for free) who can help them learn and hand over command in a couple of years more fitting than punting 60 Million for Auba? Honestly, I'm pretty torn on here, I see viable reasons for yes and no, there are worse problems to have I guess.

He's scored goals in every league.

Stop acting entitled, it's your own fault for following hype trains. He and the media owe you nothing.

Mourinho will decide who plays, and where they play. Egos aren't unique to Zlatan, and I cannot see Mourinho being trod upon by players. They'll either listen, or enjoy the bench.

It's June. Let the season begin, then make your judgement.
