We're going to ease the constraints imposed by our banning measures over the next few days but, for now, it seems the main issues have been solved concerning mods themselves.

The sub is better now than it was when we didn't use the Automoderator. Admins asked us to clean up the sub at about the 10K mark. We complied.

If people want to leave, they can do so. So long as they are aware of the fact that they are leaving a place that is properly policed (no pun intended).

No one seems to remember a time when we had 10 000 subs and an average concurrent readership of 1 500 and a barrage of posts which made our sub look like a haven for social terrorists.

To the point where admin encouraged mods to be called in to clean things up.

Are things too clean now?

Quite the opposite really. I provided a solution to a problem (at least in part), you've provided six words which sound good together.

This isn't a sleight against you or your intelligence. Just a fact.

Shoot us a link to the posts and we'll get them fixed - provided they are in line with the rules there shouldn't be an issue.

No one asks for bad things to happen. They happen and then you deal with them.

All I can do is address the concerns which are brought to my table. In this case, NaNS's ability to ban seemed to be the main gripe. Problem solved.

If NaNS ever feels like leaving, he can do so of his own volition. And, just for the record. Of the dozens NaNS has banned either directly or indirectly (via Automoderator), less than ten have come forward complaining of false practices with viable arguments in hand.

The truth is, people like drama.

I've seen this phraseology often in the complaints. But here are the facts. We have about 60 000 subscribers. On a weekly basis, the concurrent readership ranges between 50 and 400 (on weekends). Of all these people, we only get about 5 - 15 PM's each week concerning poor moderatorship.

So, to say the sub has kicked the bucket is a bit of hyperbole.

We'll be more transparent moving forward.

Any rule changes and revisions to sub policies will be made evident.

The problem you're referring to isn't me, you, or the majority of people that visit the sub on a regular basis. The problem is systemic.

This is how the Internet is. All we can do is try our best to make it less of a negative environment.

The truth of the matter is, people like to be troublemakers. At the very least we can clean the waters a little.

The majority of the users of this sub are perfect citizens. The vocal minority, however, are the problem. These are the people that troll, spam and are just a bit too ornery for our tastes.

We try to make sure you never see their posts.

If there's a pressing issue you wish to discuss, feel free to shoot one of us a PM and we'll get working on a cure.

Hey, much apologies for these trespasses. I'll be spending the next couple of weeks ironing out the kinks of our power structure and letting you guys know how we'll approach moderation moving forward.

For now, however, I'm without a computer (on mobile) but I will be more than glad to accept any PM's detailing just how you've been wronged.

The few PM's I've received in the past were handled very quickly but it seems many have kept their anger inside or at least not made a big fuss about it until now.

The sub's growth was unexpected and mistakes were made.

Hopefully we can make it a community with more of an emphasis on communing as opposed to needless bloodletting.

If users want to leave, the onus is on them. We can't force people to stay in a cess pool.

The next couple weeks will be spent ironing out the kinks of this community so that come Season 2, we can remain the definitive home for MaM.

I'm on my phone at the moment as well. Won't have access to my PC until Sunday actually.

The sub grew ridiculously fast and as a team we must admit that things got out of hand pretty quick.

As for what happened yesterday, we have ourselves to blame (and the Internet, maybe).

Honestly, the new rules may not be to blame at all. We haven't been banning people any more users now than we did before Shill hopped on board.

The thing that may be to blame, however, is our tendency to ban anything and anyone the Automoderator denotes to be a social terrorist without putting proper investigations in order.

For the most part (almost 100% of the time actually), the Automoderator does its job perfect. The wrongdoers are punished and the sub goes on its merry way.

What happened when Shill hopped on board was, of course, an increased vigor to this process.

There are just too many concurrent users for a handful of volunteers to moderate all insurrections of the law effectively enough and we can all see that.

What me and the team will be doing moving forward is hand picking one or two more mods to join the crew and taking some time to tweak the Automoderator settings to meet the community's interests at this point in time.

If a few names have to go in the process, these names will get sorted out in kind.

This isn't a call for mod applications. The users on this sub that have its best interests at heart are evident enough (apologies if you've fallen victim to our exclusionary practices).

We'll also be far more keen on keeping our readership informed of what is going on in addition to being more attentive to the vocal minority.

Until next we meet,
