Man United possible 'biggest transfer of summer', Mendes starts talks, certainty in Spain

Last week, we covered Spanish reports which said James Rodriguez could be on his way out of Real Madrid soon. Both Marca and El Confidencial claimed the Colombian international could be shown the door at the end of the season, with Marca picking Manchester United out and a possible 'biggest transfer of the summer'.

Now El Confidencial are saying that Madrid have no more doubts. James is leaving and his agent Jorge Mendes has already contacted several clubs who could potentially sign him. Any other end to this story would be ‘a surprise’.

The newspaper use most of their article to tell what happened on Tuesday night, after the match between Colombia and Ecuador, when James said: “when someone plays, being supported by all is vital. I always try to perform well on the pitch."

The Spanish press have taken it as an indirect message to Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane, and that’s the reason why El Conficencial are making sure again that James can’t stay at the club anymore.

The midfielder had good displays both against Bolivia and Ecuador, which also leads them to believe that his problem is with Real Madrid. The Colombian press, in the other hand, support James. Former midfielder Faustino Asprilla recently said he’s not getting the treatment he deserves at the club.

Whatever side they take, it’s still worth saying El Confidencial are a quite reliable newspaper. They predicted Angel Di Maria’s departure from the Bernabeu and now seem to be doing the same with James.

Jorge Mendes’ good relationship with Ed Woodward led us all to believe that Manchester United are one of the clubs whom James was offered to, despite the original article not mentioning any names.
