After two seasons in Serie A, Kostas Manolas has made a name for himself on the transfer market. His club Roma is making plans for the summer window, and while the negotiaton with Chelsea for Nainggolan appears to have stalled, the big name sacrificed could be Manolas. As reported by Sky Sport's Manuele Baiocchini and Paolo Assegna, the Greek center back appears to be Mourinho's top choice to reinforce the defense.

The Red Devils are very interested, it appears that they have already contacted Manolas' entourage during the weekend of May 14th. Roma is asking for €40 million to sell him, a sum that Manchester United would be willing to pay to grant their new coach's wish. There is however the issue of the clause that Olympiakos holds on Manolas' contract- should he be sold before September 1st 2016, the Greek club would receive 50% of the sale rather than the original sum agreed to. But this issue could be resolved by loaning Manolas to United at first and compensating Olympiakos in another way. Manchester United is focused on Manolas to reinforce Mourinho's defense.
