Bailly or Fosu-Mensah? (self.reddevils)

I have seen a lot of the videos on Bailly and noticed that many of his qualites are seen in Fosu-Mensah. Just wanted to hear your thoughts on why Jose might rate Bailly over Fosu-Mensah.

Jose likes having a tank in the side. One with TFM's ability should certainly be in his plans.

Yep. Can see Mourinho loving TFM in the long run and moulding him into an excellent Midfielder. Remember, the guy is still only 18.

I think hes very rough right now and CDM is one of the most important positions for Jose so I think it would take him awhile to break into the team

Except that is hardly correct. TFM is equally comfortable anywhere across the back line as he is as a DM. At this point no-one really knows where he will ultimately be best in

TFM is 18, he's not expected to compete with Bailly, who, as of a now, is definitely the better player. TFM will remain in the picture long term and is extremely talented but we shouldn't be relying on him for first team duties at all as of now.

It's not either or. We should always ha e strength in depth and two quality players per position.

TFM will definitely be our tank in the middle. Bailly's arrival can only make Blind change positions and compete with quite a few players.

That's the wrong debate IMHO. TFM can play anywhere in the back 4, so I would rather give him a shout at RB should the position be our weakest among the available players who play more or less as regulars there. People see Ivanovic in TFM, so I think we have a reference point there.

I know he can play as a defehsive midfielder with the U21s, but I haven't seen him do it at senior level. Hence why I'm not quite adventurous in giving him the keys in defensive midfield just yet whereas I have seen great qualities as a defender.

TFM's greatest value comes from the fact that he can play so many different positions,i don't think any kind of signings will affect how much he plays with all the injuries we get.assuming Jose decides he's good enough of course.
