Additional Moderators Wanted

We're now opening up applications for new volunteer moderators to assist in the general moderation tasks: filtering through mod-reports, messaging submitters to perform edits, and approving/removing posts & comments.

Ideally applicants should live in countries located between the UTC+6 and UTC+10 timezones.

Previous moderation experience would be helpful but is not required.

New Council Members

In an effort to "decentralize" decision making over the rules and operation of /r/EliteDangerous, the council was formed: on /r/EliteCouncil changes to the subreddit (for example new rules) are proposed by the Modteam, then discussed, revised, voted on, and passed by members. The council has been active for ~11 months and we are now renewing the memberlist to get a in larger set of opinions, and more representative voting within.

The council can be seen as an extension to the Modteam to recommend subreddit ideas, from their additional eyes and activity in discussions on /r/EliteDangerous, and implement them via democratic voting on Modteam-created polls. We will consult with the subreddit at large when ideas come that we are not certain about - in hindsight this should have been done regarding the Name & Shame rule change in April.

Yes and no. I did not agree with the rule change, nor do I disagree that there is obvious bias, but imo that didn't justify attacking one's private relationship directly.

Discussing, or arguing, the where they believe the bias is coming from is fine, sure, but some of the things people said quite frankly took it a bit far.

Just don't think you're there to affect any real change.

If you vote against the mods and what they've already decided in their private rooms they want to do... you will get removed... your votes will be vetoed... and your attempts to engage the actual userbase of the reddit will be viewed as dissent!

The only non-echo chamber voice has been removed. /u/EDMods is now essentially the Imperial Senate. It's only a matter of time before the council is dissolved permanently.

The council's only real purpose was to persuade the community that they have representation in regards to changes made to the subreddit. It's a total sham.

I plead for the Modteam, to simply remove u/SpyTec, his removal will solve more problems than the removal of any other member of the Modteam, his continued favoring and nepotism towards other members of the community and groups will continue to fog this subreddit with doubt and hate amongst members!

Now I don't know what you do for the Modteam or how active you are, you probably don't deserve the downvotes that you've already received, just answer me this, how does the Modteam view favoring as a tactic used by different Mods?

Would it be appropriate for you to actively show more support for a different player group and absolutely turn down anything that might throw a negative light on said group?
