The demo will be shown at Sonys E3 since they have a deal with Activision for CoD marketing and apparently having the biggest release of the year at their conference is suddenly a negative.

Or people actually believe that CoD's done and won't still be bought by millions of people this holiday season because of Battlefield 1.

You gotta realize that no conference ever will have only stuff you care about, it just doesn't work that way. I guarantee you that almost everyone around here will find at least 20 minutes of stuff that's boring to them in MS' conference as well, doesn't mean that stuff isn't going to be important in the big picture though.

The general consensus is that the majority of people watching it are bored. Look at reddit posts, look at chats etc.

I'm someone who watches E3 live and enjoys playing Call of Duty. I don't play it every single day, but I've got 5 days played in Black Ops 3's MP alone.

Also worth noting that Reddit is nowhere near indicative of the general populace feeling. Reddit as a whole gets around 2 million unique visitors every day. Lets assume 1/2 give a single shit about gaming in general, and think Call of Duty is boring (an optimistic number).

That's 1 million people. Black Ops 3 has sold an estimated 22 million units. Not to mention /r/BlackOps3 has 66,000 subscribers. All of whom are Redditors who play the game.

From what I remember of pretty much any and all chats that I saw while watching the MS press conference was simply hate for whatever CoD that was being shown off. Though it did come off as just the usual 'omg cod sucks' crowd mentality.

I mean I obviously don't have numbers or statistics, but from personal experience, most of my friends who game casually and play sport games and CoD don't even know what E3 is, or they've heard of it and that's it.

Microsoft didn't drop CoD marketing because some vocal people online thought it was boring, you don't just drop the biggest selling franchise in almost any given year because of that.

In fact I can't even find any evidence online that backs that it was MS that dropped the deal, could have just as well been Activision that decided it was time to switch platforms for their marketing.

Phil defintely is trying to focus more on their 1st party titles rather than third party titles of the same genre.

He said something similar when SFV was announced as a PS4 console exclusive. He'd rather invest in their own fighting IP (Killer Instinct) rather than spend money trying to get another one, that they don't own, off the ground.

Makes sense then. Personally, I own a PS4 and an XB1, as of right now I think the exclusives for the xbox are better than the PS4 ones still. Although with Uncharted 4 it puts it in a really close race.

In a perfect world, there'd be no exclusive shit and we could all play together on the same network. I only bought a Ps4 because all my friends have one and I use it to co-op game with them, otherwise I am normally on my xbox one.

They really need to do away with the exclusive shit. That's why I am praying EA announces cross-play between PS4 and XB1 for their two big fall titles, Titanfall 2 and BF1. If they do that, so long call of duty, the battle is over, they've lost.

I prefer my elite controller over the playstation ones.

I only own an Xbox One currently, but plan on getting a PS4/NX/both at some point down the line.

The only problem with getting rid of exclusives is then there isn't much differentiating the platforms. All we'll see is "PS4 is more powerful than the Xbox One" and "Xbox One has more entertainment features than PS4". Honestly, that doesn't sound the greatest for Xbox One sales. As much as exclusives can suck, they definitely are necessary, although cross-network play should definitely be more streamlined.

I think I remember EA speaking about cross-network play being a great way to get gamers more involved, so hopefully they've got something in the works or are partnering up with MS to at least get Xbone to Steam cross-network play going, hopefully to PS4 as well. I also hope they end up getting a cross-network friend/partying up option going too, which I can see working between Steam and Xbox One/PS4, but not too well between the two consoles themselves (especially since Sony's strongest points aren't innovating PSN, it's not bad but they don't seem to know how to get some basic services working on it without possibly f'ing up the whole network).

Hopefully someday soon we'll have a more congregated gaming audience. The fanboy wars need to die, or at least settle down.

They don't own any franchises (or at least one's that they currently have in the works) that fills that void.

They have a fighter (Killer Instinct), but they don't have a zombie apocalypse game like Dead Rising, so they funded Dead Rising 3, since State of Decay plays much differently.

Same goes to Rise of the Tomb Raider.

The way I look at it, it seems to be a waste of space instead of showing something new (unannounced) or exclusive. Xbox has Battlefield 1 (and probably Titanfall 2) this year, Sony has COD and probably some other big third party franchise too (maybe Ghost Recon: Wildlands? Or have TC games always been an MS thing?).

But hey, everyone's different. I'm just hoping both conferences are filled with more surprises and exclusives rather than third party titles we've known about for a while.

While I'll agree that ghosts multi was better then blops 3 and aw because it was still boots on the ground thats not exactly hard to do personally I disliked ghosts multi because the maps strayed from the 3 lane map design that the huge majority of cod maps had in previous games and extinction was alright but I don't think that it was better then zombies.

I can definitely agree on the maps. I think CoD4 and MW2 had the best maps. But the gameplay itself I thought was solid.

Extinction mode though. I've always been saying, ever since their first DLC extinction map, that the mode was something special. Most people I know didn't even give the mode a chance because it wasn't zombies. And I admit, at first glance it didn't seem like much. But then they added the permanent upgrades with teeth system, the collectibles, the easter eggs, the actual STORY with cutscenes, and entirely new enemy types and unique bosses. And it felt much more coop focuses than zombies, which is something I always disliked about zombies. Unfortunately, most people didn't actually get that far. I think most just dismissed it after their first impression, but in my opinion, the replay value AND gameplay were far better than the mindless zombie mode.

I stopped after Ghosts, they left that game in a cliffhanger and I've been expecting a sequel to find out what the brother will do, but nope, Blops 2, saw the glimpse of futuristic and skipped it and AW. Now I have Blops 3 as a kind xmas gift; campaign is aight, typical Treyarch mindfuck stuff. But, then multiplayer is absolute garbage, imo. Simply the specialist characters and the perk system is terrible. I especially hate the perks. 6th sense and tracker give me a break. I'll join in game and little kids to grown ass man think their the shit because they sit and literally use the free assist. I have never seen them consistently do well either, I talk mad shit to make them back it up. With or without it they usually back out the next match. All the parkour shit, I don't really mind, but I think Halo not cod.

Edit: after yearly releases of CoD give me a break on my memory. But yes Blops, MW3, Blops 2 skipped that shit, Ghosts, got it now👌🏻

It'll probably be decent.

Each of the COD's have been pretty good in the gameplay deparment, but I think a lot of gamers are sick of the annual releases of it with little to no changes. Of course, it seems the masses prefer buying the game rather than boycotting (especially since people don't seem to think that supporting the MW Remaster is a bad idea in terms of buying the $80 package), so we're probably not going to be getting major innovations anytime soon.

I agree with this. I usually buy them, play their campaign then sell them for around what I paid. Last year with Black Ops III I go bored after 2 missions so just sold it. Will probably sit out this years since it is getting really tired.

But I don't have any hate for the game. It's mere existence doesn't offend me. Sure, I would love some of the millions who buy Call of Duty to buy some other, less known games to help out other developers, but I just can't understand the visceral anger people feel towards a videogame franchise they won't play and has minimal if any impact on their lives. Just ignore it.

Interesting. I bought Blops 3 for my first CoD in nearly ten years as soon as they stated that the movement in Infinite Warfare would be similar to Blops 3 because of the trailer. There is so much potential with this story line.
