There are so many supposed experts on the internet who apparently have time to watch multiple games across multiple nations every week.

I always assume they're most likely basing their opinion on FIFA or at best the Football Manager scouting network.

Every fan base has this though - the initial "who the fuck" is eventually answered in depth by one person sharing his opinion and this opinion is then recycled over and over by everyone until it gets more and more positive by every post. By the time the player is signed he's basically become the Messiah

To be fair Football Manager is the best way for the common football fan to get a hint at the next best players, outside of actually watching the games. I think Everton used their systems.

While that may be true, some people do genuinely watch a hell of a lot of games. Up until 2/3 years ago, I used to watch a lot of Ligue 1, La Liga, Serie A, Primeira Liga, and Premier League as well as the continental competitions of course. I used to watch a LOT of French football though.

I had the pleasure of watching Eden Hazard since the start at Lille, PSG back in the days when they had Hoarau, Luyindula, Giuly, Sakho, etc. and back when Lyon were the powerhouse team of Ligue 1. I thought Michel Bastos was a monster and I always wanted us to sign him. Watching Bordeaux win it with Yoann Gourcuff as their spearhead, I always thought he'd be something special. Injuries really hurt his career. Unfortunately I also saw Chamakh and thought he'd be really good. Also had the pleasure of seeing Dimitri Payet, Loic Remy, Marvin Martin, Kevin Gameiro, etc.

Sometimes you look at a player and you're right, sometimes you're just plain wrong. I got Zouma, Umtiti, and Hazard right. I got Gourcuff, Chamakh, and Bastos wrong.

tbf I do find it interesting how much Football manager gets right in the short term future.

The amount of times a players comes through after 2 or 3 seasons and then a year or so time I hear a premier league or top club had signed him.

FIFA 14 Martial....something like 63 OVR with 87 potential. Then in typical EA fashion, 2 years later he's a higher OVR, played his best season ever, but his potential is lowered.

Definitely trust in Jose. He bought Zouma and Varane at very young ages, and they have turned out to be class. I'm sure he knows Bailly's potential as well.

We bought Phil Jones and Varane thought with Vidic, Ferdinand and Smalling and Jones as Jr. CBs there'd be no playing time for him. Buying Jones directly influenced Varane's decision.

I saw about 5-10 Villareal matches this season.From what i saw from this season and last season,He makes big dashing runs with the ball from the back.He is a good dribbler and passer of the ball.A very rated player in LaLiga,and an integral part of Villarreal's success.

    I don't know a huge amount about him other than the two matches I've seen him play but he seemed pretty decent in them. Obviously young but very athletic.

    The only problem I see with him is when the African Cup of Nations rolls round, we would lose him at a pretty big time of the heat.

    Bailly is a fucking beast. This has been his breakout season and he's very promising.

    One of his most remarkable attitudes is his speed, which is quite remarkable for a CB, especially combined with his height and physicality.

    Villarreal has been one of La Ligas best defensive teams this season and he's one of the main reasons why.

    Would be a very good signing.
