At the end of this season Fellaini was playing pretty well Imo. But that was because he was playing where he should and not as a defensive midfield. He should be in the box heading/chesting it down for people or trying to head it in himself. I think it was just like most of our players not playing where they are the strongest.

He also had a similar great spell towards the end of last season where Young kept finding him in the box. I personally think he's actually quite good when he plays there.

He's not a very good player, he's a thug, he reminds everyone of the Moyes era, he was terrible in his first season, etc, etc

To compare Blind to Fellaini is ludicrous.

Depay is hated by a lot of people on this sub.

Hating the players is a weird symptom of having a manager you don't like for an extended period of time. It happens at a lot of clubs. Smalling under Moyes anyone? I was fucking livid that Wayne played every minute when he was at his worst last year.

With Jose I think it should be like hitting reset; if Fellaini is good enough he'll play, if not he won't and will eventually leave. If I see his name on the team sheet now it won't be cause to groan and curse, it'll just be interesting to see what he does and where he's played.

I don't feel animosity towards any player. There are players I would like to see leave the club as I don't think they're of requisite quality. I don't blame those players for the football we have played for the past 2 years either and I will never get personal and start calling them names, etc. This is nothing new though, I remember the days that Kieron Richardson was booed by United fans whenever he came on or went off.

My main concern with Fella is how he's unable to control himself from commiting silly fouls that lead to dangerous free kicks.

Memphis and Blind are immune to bashings? Have you even been in this sub? Specially when Blind was having that poor run towards the end of the season.

And to answer the first question, Fellaini is big, loud and draws A LOT of negative attention to himself through his antics (elbows to the face and such) and not having the play to back it up (Guys like Diego Costa, etc...). Also hive mind.

Fellaini provides the least technical ability, in exchange for the dirtiest play. His best position is at 10, just consider having a playmaker with what little he offers on the ball. Decent squad option for difficult away games against physical sides but that's about it.

I feel like a lot of the hate he gets is because he was an expensive panic buy by Moyes and because he's often played out of position ahead of others in their natural position. I think when people see him, they get reminded of Moyes and that disastrous season/transfer market. He's also a dirty player.

But the thing is none of those are actually his fault (except for the thug part). I think he's been decent for us, and has stepped up big time in some important games for us, like that run last season where we beat Spurs/LFC/City, or when he scored vs West Ham and Everton in the FA Cup. He is one of our key players against the physical sides and I felt his absence really hurt us vs West Ham not too long ago. I for once like him quite a bit. He's not fancy, technical and looks clumsy on the ball sometimes, but he's absolutely not as bad as many people say he is.

Took the words right out of my mouth. This is exactly it. To add, I just think people find him unfashionable, from his haircut to his gangly, flailing body. I know that sounds silly, but it makes him an easy target when things don't go well. It's clear he isn't the best player to play at United, I just feel that, in a team which has underperformed massively for the last few seasons, his criticisms have been disproportionate.

Blind was more of a scapegoat this season, even when he was consistently playing well people didn't want him in the team. Even Lingard got more shit than Fellaini

[–]labtecozaDeutscher Fußballmeister 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

He's a player that does not 'belong' in a Manchester United team. People want speed, flair and trickery. Fellaini is a big lump and isn't very exciting to watch. He can be very effective in specific roles. He's a good option to have in the squad imo, I don't think we should sell him without a better replacement.

I think it's because people don't like what that player represents. He may be doing OK for his standards, but a poster might feel there are better options that he is keeping out of the team .

cuz he's apparently not skillful enough to be on the team even though he has that world class chest control and physicality

[–]BloodyMess111 0ポイント1ポイント  (2子コメント)

Having good chest control will be useful for about 1-2% of games. Its skill with your feet that matters in this game of FOOTball and he has very little.

[–]legojs 1ポイント2ポイント  (1子コメント)

yeah but its not like he lacked severely those traits. He has pretty good ball control and some good skills in his pocket. He looks clumsy because of his height

[–]BloodyMess111 -1ポイント0ポイント  (0子コメント)

He's just average or poor all round tbh, apart from his chest control. The most annoying part of his game is that he's crap with his head!!

He isn't a scapegoat, he is just shit.
