Thanks for the update Asaka. I've been keeping up with Sam and it sounds like things are going well so far. I'm really interested to see how the teams will match up against each other. Keep up the good work.

As a member of Sparkle Motion, I've enjoyed this program a lot! (also right after I submitted the survey, I climbed a rank x.x)

I just came back to the game and hopped in here to help me relearn some stuff and I'm so excited to see this initiative. Can't wait to see where it goes and I'd be interested in signing up in the future. Good luck with this!

We hope to get players of all skill levels involved - that way, the most people possible can be included.

I really really like this program it has helped me improve mechanically and has boosted my confidence. Being on Sam's team we are constantly shuffling positions so I feel as though I am improving at every position. I wish there were a bigger stress on decision making as a team and that Sam would put the role of shot caller on someone because it usually ends up with me making the calls which can really demoralize me when things don't go our way. The atmosphere of the program is great and I feel as though I can start climbing whenever I decide to start spamming ranked matches.

You were placed into a team of quiet followers. Accept it already! XD

In all honesty though, we seem to work pretty well with you as the main shot caller. And 9/10 the failure in a game is us, not the call. I know I have much I can improve on that will make me able to follow up on the calls much better and be a more potent asset on the team.

[–]ahris_fluffy_tails 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

Yeah i agree with this sentiment, I came into this team with really bad shyness issues and it's helped a lot, but I don't think I could shotcall nearly as well as Will could.

It has been fun learning as a team and realizing how to be an asset to the team. I've played team sports my whole life, but there was always team practice so that you got better with those you'd play with. There is a cohesion that can be built there, and there has been so much more to learn being part of this team than just playing Solo Q. And we have been excellent lately at rotating and taking objectives when possible. Dragon meat for sale!

I'm practically salivating over when the real deal is coming out. Release it. Please.

We decided it wasn't such a good idea to release the full program over a period where people would be taking important exams, since it might impact both the program and their study :>

Some of us don't attend school :|

I'm with you friend. I got placed in with the team and found out just how old I am. :( I manage a parts department, been out of school about 6 years now.

It's pretty hard to find people to play with that are older than 25 to duo que with.

I belong to a group called [TOTP - Too Old To Play](www.reddit.com/r/TOTP). We're not all 25+, but it is older guys. I know there is also a [LoLDads](www.reddit.com/r/LoLDads) group that focuses on fathers and the added responsibilities that brings.

I'll be over there...... With the dad's........ And beer.

Yeah it's a little unfortunate for those of us with the free time available, but we felt a delay of a couple weeks was preferable to having the program disrupted. Sorry :<

If possible in the future maybe there could be a team focused towards older players? My demographic trends to have fewer commitments aside from of family outside of work. We also have the disposable income to pick up new champs etc. Would be nice to play with a structured team of players my own age lol.

Good work though you guys, keep it up.

I've registered!

I'd love to be involved by my schedule might make it difficult. How lenient are the schedules?

From how we did it, we basically laid out when we were available and then Sam VC picked two nights and we meet for 3 hours. It's mainly up to the coach and the team when we meet though, so I assume there would be some teams more open that could be made to work. :)

During the selection process, I sorted out sign-ups by timezone and kept the players who had similar schedules as me, which made things much more easier for practices after the final selection.

Hopefully, coaches will have the same opportunity. However, we ask that teams meet twice a week for roughly 2 to 3 hours each time if possible, so the program might require a bit too much time for some.

oh man this is exactly what I need. is there a way to subscribe to updates or do I just need to browse summonerschool and hope I see the thread when the summer sign up opens?

We are currently on Week 3 of the Pilot Program, once this is over we will make another post like this one to conclude our 4 weeks and give you guys an ETA for the next sign-ups.

Players who participated in the first sign-up but weren't selected and checked the option to receive emails will get notified. For those that missed it, we'll look into what we can do, but I'd be on the lookout for the post in around 3 weeks or so.

Yes, now you can fill out this form and be contacted when signups go live!

Well, if Oce is included, what about garena regions, especially SEA?

The big limiting factor is and will always be the coaches.

We want to include every region, but only the official sign-ups will actually tell us what we can do. As long as there are coaches, teams can be formed.

We'll go into more details as we finish up the NA Pilot Program, especially concerning the interest in other regions and streamed events.

Looking forward to this :D

I'd be interested in joining, however my internet time is from 6-9 on weekdays, would it be possible for me to play?

What time zone are you in? Our team meets 7:30-10:30 my time, but I'm east coast. That'd be 6:30-9:30 central. But each team is flexible, so most likely they can make it work as long as you aren't West Coast. :)

I'm east coast as well, so 6pm to 9pm

During the signups you will be able to indicate your availability, so if a coach and four team mates share a similar schedule, you're in luck!

When will the sign-ups occur?

Personally, I am REALLY excited to see that oce is included! Just a couple questions though:

  • How many people will have to show interest for the program to realistically go forward?

  • If there is only a small number of teams, say two or three, what will happen in terms of the streamed tournament?

  • Will there be different windows for launch on different servers?

Thank you~

EDIT: What even is mobile formatting??

  • Players of the subreddit have shown their interest, 167 filled up the form during the short time window we took them in. Here are the stats per server:
    NA - 138
    EUW - 24
    OCE - 3
    EUNE - 2
It might take a while to gain traction, but we're hoping it does by sharing our results regularly and gain the trust of players who currently might just be looking from the sidelines, scared to make the jump.

  • There might be complications with the tournaments if smaller regions don't have a lot of sign-ups, but we want to allow team creations even if that's the case. If an OCE coach signs up and wants to pick up a team with this program, then we'll support it.

  • I can't give you an exact answer now, but the NA Pilot Program will end in around a week, then we'll tidy up what we have, finish our coach support/curriculum and let the team discuss our next move.

Okay cool, thank you very much! Just one more question I promise!

In terms of applications, will people have to track down the original post or will you create another thread? If not I'll start sharing the other post around, see if i can't drum up some interest from my corner of OCE :)

Thanks again!

This was the original post, but I don't think anyone will have to track it down, as we'll probably make a post at the end with our final results and hinting or presenting a date for the next sign-ups.

Players that signed up the first time and have agreed that we send then a notification when we launch the next sign-ups will get an email (or message, I don't remember which one), but as of now I don't know if we can add players to that list, however the new sign-up thread should be hard to miss if you check the subreddit on a regular basis.

We were trying to give the OCE "Summoner School" in-game chat room some love recently, you might want to check it if you haven't already~

No worries, I'll make sure to push it along when the time comes!

Forgive my ignorance but in-game chat? Public chat rooms have been disabled for several months now haven't they? I'm somewhat confused :/

Riot's public chat rooms were removed, but any chat room can still be created or joined.

Is there an email list for signups or do I have to just wait around to see if I don't miss sign ups? This sounds like fun.

I posted under the original post something along the lines: "Why not for EUW?" and got PMed by a nice Plat1 player saying he would like to start a pilot program on EUW. Since then every Tuesday and Thursday we have been playing together improving on our objective play and shotcalling, as well as trust to follow a call as 5 people, which alone would scare off the enemy team seeing we are unisono and they are 5 Individuals. We got placed Silver 5 and also played some Customs for personal inprovement (CS, Harrass on CS, Skillshot Dodging, Playing vs. Zed....)

We can be found under /r/BetterTogetherTeam and I would like to thank all persons making this possible, from the Original Program with the suggestion aswell as all my Teammembers

Spikew (EUW)

EDIT: Are your Prograns Videos to be found somewhere on Youtube, would really like to watch them

It's nice to see that the original post sparked something even while the Pilot was only for NA, I hope you guys stick together. Next time we'll open team creation for EUW and the other regions as well.

Your team's subreddit has restricted access, I'm assuming so no one interferes with things like practice scheduling.

/u/VerdeCreed recorded his lessons, but I don't know if these are uploaded anywhere right now, so I'll ask him.

So there's video evidence of the torture? :p

To be serious though, I know he has the recordings from his perspective. I have LSI that has recorded each match I was a part of/spectated. Should be all of them. If it would help in any way, just let me know and I'll get them over to you guys. He'd be the only one with team comms and the actual teaching though. :)

We have some videos too on BetterTogetherTeam from my perspective (the coach from EU who also asked to be in your guys' program). If anyone wants them later I can make the sub public or give the links to Youtube.

We are gonna stick together for sure.

Woah! Congratulations on taking the initiative and starting something yourself. If you'd ever like any help or support from us let me know. Otherwise, I'd love to hear more out how your team runs and what your coach has had success with.

For all the people that signed up initially, will we all be assigned teams soon enough?

Quick question that hopefully gets answered:

In the three most common questions section, you stated that All skill ranges, from pre 30 to Challenger could register.

In the description of the program, you state that twice a week the team would play Riot's ranked fives ladder.

How is that possible if someone like I, who is pre level 30, can't play ranked? Unless I'm missing something :(

Teams are encouraged to play the Ranked fives ladder to practice and test their limits in a more serious environment, however in your case that would be impossible.
Our goal is that no one that wishes to participate gets left out from the sign-ups, so if a team of pre-30 players is formed, they would probably do normal games. Coaches will have a lot of freedom, no one is forced to do anything, but a general curriculum will be provided for everyone to use if they want to follow it instead of creating their own lessons plan.

Thanks so much for the answer! I'm liking this community a lot more than the forums one.

What if I were to just sign up by myself and there were not enough pre-30s? I understand the goal is "No summoner left behind" here, but would that technically make me ineligible to participate or how would that be handled? Would I be teamed with level 30s and they forced to play normals? I wouldn't want to bring a team discomfort for having to dumb down the type of game played.

We say "goal", but I don't know if we'll be able to make it. I'm assuming our big bottleneck will be the amount of coaches signing up. If we get 10 coaches willing to take on a team, then it means we can only offer this for 50 students.
Hopefully, as this program gets more structured, we can avoid leaving people behind completely, but for now I can't make promises. The sign-ups will still be available for everyone and teams are made with mostly availabilities in mind.

Thank you for the replies and being helpful.

What Timezones are generally preferenced in the program? Reason being, I live in Central, whereas I know a lot are based on the west coast, the 2 hour difference makes a LOT of difference, especially for someone who can only play in the evening hours

This program will include teams of 6 people (5 students + 1 coach) from every region. During sign ups you will list your preferred hours and time zone, and you will be matched with other students that share availability.

Thank you all for setting up the match! It was a blast to be a part of and really interesting to hear the commentator's opinions of what happened. It feels really weird having my plays interpreted by someone else, but it certainly gives a lot of insight into my weaknesses are.

I'm really interested in participating as a player the next time this comes around. Is there a way I can be notified when the sign-ups are open again?

Seconded, I'd love to participate in this. Hopefully I don't miss the signups!

I can't give you an exact date right now, but the NA Pilot Program will end in about a week, so we're aiming for a few weeks after that. There is a possibility we'll announce it during the conclusion/summary post.

We still have a few things to test out and work on, but we'll definitely not try to leave anyone out on purpose, so I wouldn't worry about that if you visit the subreddit regularly.

Hello what is your opinion on discrimination? Personally I've felt discriminated for a long time with the workshops, as I am a gold 3 player. I hope to see a change in this.

[–]Frewsa 0

So do you feel like you're above the other players and below the other coaches, so you can't contribute?

No, I would love to learn, but my rank is holding me back. It makes me sad

This was the case for the Workshops where games only allowed Bronze and Silver players as students and Plat+ as coaches. Gold players were left in the dust for a while, but we're hoping that this program can help everyone as long as we have the coaches to support it.

If Platinum players sign-up as students and we're lucky to get a few high Diamond coaches, there will be an opportunity to make teams of that level. Again it depends on how the sign-ups go.
