Rant posts are not allowed on /r/Summonerschool. Please keep your thread learning focused by asking questions we'll be able to help with while avoiding comments about your team's mishaps. We can't control that, but we can most likely help you with issues in your play and let you improve it. Hope that this is understandable.

summonerschool 内の LeoJessy10 によるリンク As a ADC main, what should I do to get better? Common mistakes, etc.

[–]Chibi_Holy[M] 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

Hey LeoJessy10. If you want people to simply review and give advice off of your op.gg, please post in the Simple Questions thread. For replays in particular, you can use the Replay Review megathread for them.

The reasoning is that threads without any question beside "Can you guys give me tips" are too broad and will result in the same answers: Die less, ward more, cs better, etc. so we want threads to be more specific about the issues and not just be another typical post.

Since you talked about mentality and mechanics, have you thought about the problems a little further? Maybe you need advice about laning, synching with your support/jungler, teamfighting, keeping up axes while kiting/changing direction or how to stay focused on the game so you can make the right calls, how to keep yourself motivated while looking and analyzing your mistakes, etc.

With those kind of questions, the commenters will be able to help you much more than they would only with your op.gg and very, very basic info about you. There are also guides out there specifically around those, so you can try finding them for more info as well. The result is win-win for both you and the users reading/commenting the thread.

Hopefully that makes sense!

Unfortunately, /r/Summonerschool isn't the right place to look for teams or other players to queue with. The idea isn't bad, but subreddits like /r/teamredditteams or /r/leagueconnect are the way to go. As for [Meta] threads, they need to be constructed around lengthy discussion to avoid what happened - everyone jumping on the idea and the arguments being at the bottom of the thread.

It's worth discussing, the idea is fine and there is some demand for it, but as of now, we can't allow threads to evolve into a LFG/LFT comment section. Hopefully that is understandable. If you want to pitch an idea to the mod team directly, feel free to send a modmail.

Hello Soluxian. I wanted to let you know that you are currently not respecting the Reddit selfpromotion rules.

Here is an important part from the Reddiquette, which defines the activity requirements outside of your own threads:

Feel free to post links to your own content (within reason). [...] A widely used rule of thumb is the 9:1 ratio, i.e. only 1 out of every 10 of your submissions should be your own content.

It is enforced in the Summoner School rules as well, so please keep the selfpromotion ratio in mind for the future.

summonerschool 内の Vjostar によるリンク Simple Questions Simple Answers: Week-52

[–]Chibi_Holy 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

To answer your question, you shouldn't worry about it too much. Your rank will fluctuate and change for the better eventually as you improve and practice more with your champs. However, if you really want to see the rating you'll get initially, websites like op.gg and lolnexus can show you the ranks of the other 9 players in your game. For example, if in your last few placement games, the average rank of the others is Silver 5, then you're going to get placed around Silver 5 or high Bronze.

MMR/Elo checkers aren't accurate, but the ranks of the people you're playing with/against are, so they are a much better indication of where you're currently standing. Note that for normals, it's nearly impossible to get a good idea about MMR because the matchmaking isn't as strict. Both queues have different, independant MMRs.

There are a lot of players who come here to vent their frustration, either in the form of thinly veiled complaints or straight up openly raging at their solo queue teams. Those get filtered by both downvotes and reports/removals extremely quickly though.

The original goals of Summoner School are just that: to be a place where you can help others, and learn yourself. There are an increasing amount of issues that come with having lots of subscribers, but it's far from being at a breaking point. If crowded defaults didn't lose their way, it's definitely something we can do too. A lot of the regulars here know what they want and can tell the difference between a "good" and a "bad" post, this thread is a testament to that (albeit ranty, it brought good discussion).

We do have a rule for "Frequently Asked Questions" that should be redirected to the simple questions sticky, however it's a lot more arbitrary than systematical when it comes to removals (other than the very obvious ones). Some will write a huge essay about their personal experience and end with their op.gg link, hoping for advice, so it's not like they didn't put any effort in it, even though the many paragraphs didn't give much relevant information. The weekly mentoring, replay and champion pool threads are seriously underused, but they wouldn't be useful otherwise. The reddit platform doesn't let us give them more exposure easily (no one reads the sidebar/header) and there would always be too much demand in them. You surely remember "Post your op.gg" threads occasionally showing up that have hundreds if not thousands of comments, but I'd wager less than 25% actually got a reply.

In the end, this is something that will have to be discussed in depth. There are probably a lot of decisions to be made, but you can be sure it'll always be in the sub's best interest.

There are probably less than 10 user reports per day, which is insanely low for a (soon to be) 100k sub. Thankfully Automod filters are a great help, but it doesn't catch every post that breaks the rules, so the rest is manual removals from simply browsing /new or /unmoderated.

I think you bring some good points, I don't like those kind of threads either since there's nothing we can do to help them realistically.

summonerschool 内の babtism によるリンク I have a couple Questions for a High Elo Support Main

[–]Chibi_Holy 8ポイント9ポイント  (0子コメント)

You will see players climb using any role and any champ, so it is very realistic to get Platinum playing Support exclusively. It is highly dependant on your own ability, just like any other role, but sometimes in different aspects.

What are the reasons you are on tilt as a support? You should be mentally prepared for those situations, potentially having trouble in lane with an underperforming ADC, getting constantly ganked and dove, etc. Ultimately, you don't want to tilt and let it affect your gameplay, however it's nearly impossible not to get affected, we aren't robots. I suggest taking breaks inbetween games/after losses, and try to review your games rationally, look at everyone's gameplay from a fresh, equal perspective, and don't be too hard on yourself, because all those mistakes and bad habits won't be fixed overnight.

Try playing those roles to get a better understanding behind their laning experience, common match ups and general struggles they might face. You don't have to be proficient in all roles or use a carry role to climb to a certain elo and then switch back to support. Simply observing the other lanes could be enough to "keep your knowledge in check" if you learn fast by watching others, but first hand experience goes a long way. I don't think mechanics are exclusive to certain roles, and are something you should be working on as a player. Dodging skillshots, moving between autos, laning properly in general, are all something you'll be using regardless of the champion you play, so you will always be practicing and honing those skills, even as support.

In ranked, you will meet new players every game. Your ADC's playstyle will be different each time, so you need to adapt. This is a big part of what makes a high elo support, a high elo support, and most importantly, the player they are. Their consistency, regardless of their team or laning partner, is what carries them up on the ladder. Always be on the lookout for what you could be doing to empower your team. Plan ahead and have your vision prepared, share your idea(s) in chat and encourage everyone to keep working together. It's hard to explain everything through text, but watching replays really helps you see how crazy supports apply pressure in lane, never fail to see opportunities to abuse missteps and accurately ward with the information they have on the enemy jungler.

summonerschool 内の Vjostar によるリンク Simple Questions Simple Answers: Week-50

[–]Chibi_Holy 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

You may feel pressured early on, but the trick against those is that they will overcommit at some point to trade with you if they play very aggressively in lane (you can try to bait them into it). Upon seeing their first move/spell, it's easy to anticipate the rest. When you have your full combo as Ahri or Veigar, you can win those trades or go out even. They will take minion aggro, jump close to your tower, and generally be likely to make mistakes. If your jungler is near, encourage a gank with a few pings or telling them that they are pushing up. Alternatively, you can force them under tower, which will reduce their ability to harass and trade with you, and also opens up the option to roam, but you need a strong laning sense (positioning, when to auto attack, which trades to take, the enemy jungler, etc.) to abuse every small chance to lower their hp and outpush them.

As long as you don't die 1v1 to her and push/TP to counter gank when she roams, you should be fine. Some match ups will be hard if the LB, Yasuo or Fizz player is good, don't feel forced to crush them in lane. If you see opportunities, go for it, but be careful not to make mistakes of your own and get caught in the process.

summonerschool 内の SpellzSenpai によるリンク I have an idea of starting an in depth channel which explores the intricacies of different match ups and the ways in which to approach them all the way into the late game including builds, thought processes etc. Is there a high enough demand for this?, and if so how many of you would be interested?

[–]Chibi_Holy[M] 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

Hey SpellzSenpai, unfortunately I have to remove your post, since interest gauging is against our rules.

As the others said, there is a lot of demand for fresh quality educational content and it's highly encouraged to give it a try. As a heads up, self-promotion and posting your own content is fine as long as both Reddit and Subreddit rules are respected. Long story short, you have to participate and interact with the community outside of your own threads. From the Reddiquette, "A widely used rule of thumb is the 9:1 ratio, i.e. only 1 out of every 10 of your submissions should be your own content."

Hope that makes sense, and good luck with your videos.

It's all good, everyone makes mistakes. The problem with talking about your team and not yourself is that no one can help you. Those few teammates who did badly are now gone and you will probably never see them again. Even if you wanted to help them, they might get angry from unsolicited advice. You on the other hand. You are here for a good reason, you want to learn, right?

Take a step back and reevaluate the situation, most people will tell you the same: Don't get angry over other people's mistakes. This is something you need to get better at as early as possible, because it will never stop. In each game, someone has to lose lane, be it on the enemy team or your own. Sometimes they will even feed after losing lane, all the way up to Diamond and above. After you've realized that, you can look at the game a little bit more objectively and clearly to see your problems, your team's problems and the enemy team's problems. What you do with that information is entirely up to you. Either keep playing like you always do, or think, think about what you really should be doing, in and out of game. A lot of my friends don't think, they just play, and it holds them back, because it hinders their ability to make good judgements.

In the long run, the person that can overcome hurdles is the person that progresses. Don't let this be yours. I highly suggest taking breaks after each game to take a few minutes and review the events, what were your win conditions, did you play around them properly, what you could've done better, etc. and another few minutes to cool down, walk around and get a glass of water for example. If you lose multiple games in a row, take a longer break and consider stopping for the day. Doing a quick warm up (depends on the person and time available, either a custom game for 5mins of csing or full jungle clear, Coop or normal game) before going into ranked is also something I believe has a positive effect on your gameplay.
