Guess who's back...

Yep. Silly season has returned for the 4th summer on /r/reddevils!

Most of you know the drill.

For those who don't...From today until the window closes, a transfer round-up & discussion thread will be made every day. In these threads, ANYTHING can be talked about. Any player, in or out, any transfer fee, anything!

Now, with these threads starting, this means that rumours submitted as seperate posts will be removed unless they are from reliable sources!

I disagree. I think De Gea will stay, since we have Mourinho now. Also, I think Zidane will be given the freedom over how the RM squad is changed over the summer. With Madrid's looming transfer ban, they will be looking to add depth in other positions, aside from goalkeeper.

Zidane holds power at Madrid, at least for now. He was a legend as a player, won the UCL as a manager, and that will give him freedom with the squad.

Furthermore, the Madrid fans want Navas to stay, and Zidane has made it clear he wants Navas as his number one option.

On the contrary, I think that he might stay for one more season - just to see where United goes w/ Mourinho. If LVG would've stayed, I'd bet my life's savings on DDG leaving but now things are a bit different.

Although I do feel what must have gone through his mind when RM won the Champion's league...

I think you might be right, but I really hope not.

My only consolation is that, with Mourinho, we'll likely sign a proper CB and play two CDMs in midfield, which should at least alleviate the loss.

I would love the James signing, even if the figure is a little higher than I'd want. He's going to be the best player the club can realistically pull this Summer. He can be world class.

I'd like to see him here for the right price. I just think 80 million is a steep price to pay for someone who has never played in the EPL.

I think fuck it. On one hand if we sign Zlatan you can say we'd be paying 80 for a striker and a 10 both of which we need anyways so think of it as the money saved on him.

Honestly we have the money to do it. City are going to be splashing the cash and so should we. If it helps us get back to the top (which James would) then let's just fucking go for it

Do people have thoughts on the RW position?

Personally, I'd love to see us sign a RW that can do a solid shift defensively as well as offensively - someone that can play the role Willian played at Chelsea under Mourinho in their title season.

I think Mane would be a good option, and achievable early-ish in the window if we stump the cash.

My prediction: No big name big money transfers this season. Big money or big name, not both, so no James/Griezmann etc. Zlatan doesn't come either. We get a CB as priority then whatever quality is available at the right price.

I have a similar feeling - we might get a couple of players, 3 if we sell some, a CB and a winger. Both might not be at a world-class level but will be upgrades on what we have and just like Mourinho's first season at Chelsea, he'll focus more on bringing tactical stability, getting into the Champions League and winning a trophy.

1 strong tall CB : Varane, Stones, Manolas, etc

1 RW or CAM : James, Willian, Griezman, etc

Maybe extra CM if we have spare money
