Yeah, they just spin it as the evil SJWs planted it. No one's denying it happened. And voat itself got dropped from their host for linking to it.

It's the same as that thread from the_donald last week where the neo-nazi got massively upvoted for being a neo-nazi. When it got meta linked and made them look bad, they claimed the SJWs upvoted it to make them all "seem" like racists.

It's actually a pretty sweet system. Post CP unabashedly and when you get busted, just say it was planted. Hell, in the SRC thread several people accused me personally of doing it.

Dude, literally every image hosting site in existence has to deal with child porn. It can be especially rough for new sites who don't have any special server solutions running, since then anyone with an axe to grind could skip reporting the content to the site itself for removal and go directly to their host in an attempt to get the whole site shut down, which is what seems to have happened here.

If you're going to say that an open image uploading site is a "child porn site" based on the fact that some chucklefucks uploaded CP to it, then the exact same thing applies to Imgur and basically anything else as well. Are you going to ban submissions from those sites too?

U/throwingtoucans - I have read your exchanges with u/agentlame and I'd like to offer you my insight for what little it may be worth. As I understand it, u/agentlame's position is that you are a fag and that your mother smokes cigars. Personally, I believe there may be some merit in his arguments. Nevertheless, I believe his thinking may be clouded in this regard; therefore, I suggest you meet him after class and punch him in the nose several times causing it to bleed. The decreased congestion to his brain should make the unassailable logic of your arguments clear to him.

I never once said nor implied anything of the sort. I do, however, feel that when it was created the people hosting it were willing indifferent to CP as part of their "free speech" stance--so much so that they didn't mind it at all until they got busted. So was the founder of voat, until it bit him in the ass.

If these guys could legally host CP, they would. And they would brag about doing so.

To that end, I find people how fight to promote it do so with an intention. And given its history, I suspect that intention is malicious.

Frankly, that's a fucking ridiculous assumption to make. Nobody in their right mind would look the other way with CP uploads, no matter how pro-free speech they are.

Based on what exactly? They were most likely swiftly removing any CP that was reported to them, as any sane site administrators would. But unless they were manually screening all uploads (which, once again, isn't something you can really do effectively unless you have lots and lots of money to throw at hiring moderation staff), bad shit no doubt slipped through the cracks, and it only takes one person with an axe to grind to run to the hosting company instead of reporting shit to the site itself for removal.

What exactly do you mean by a "false flag"? What I'm saying is that someone (or multiple someones) most likely purposely went to look for CP on the site with the idea of reporting it to the hosting company in an effort to hurt the site instead of using their on-site reporting to get it removed. It doesn't require them uploading CP themselves to make that happen, just a lot of patience, since once again, if you have an open image hosting platform, CP is an unfortunate inevitability and it's basically impossible to clean it all up without relying on user reports to help unless you have dedicated 24/7 moderation staff looking over everything that gets uploaded.

Is there a timeline of these incidents? Cuz I can easily see the owner using cheap hosting sites that drop you because you went to bed and didn't catch the illegal content fast enough and you wake up to being dropped.

I doubt the owner has the manpower to man the reports 24/7 in a timely manner to satisfy host demands on an open upload site, which is their fault, but without a timeline or statement from the owners on it I'm finding it hard to rationalize "they got dropped for cp uploads" with "they'd proudly host cp if they could." It seems like an irrational jump in thinking.
