But we're not pretentious about it

Until we start pretending that us doing it is somehow better than other people doing it, which absolutely makes us pretentious.

I don't understand people's obsession with coming up with weird, forced explanations for why people have opinions about other people. They must be faggots.

[–]satintintintintin 2ポイント3ポイント  (0子コメント)

I mean this is all pretty obvious to socially apt people, but:

  • People who want to live in a world where people help other people, express gratitude for other people's help. And if the help sucks? They still express gratitude, because they know they'd rather live in a world where other people try to help.

  • Selfish ingrates who resent other people's help look for excuses to whine and complain and call it oppression. They fixate on why THIS SPECIFIC detail of the help they got made it shitty garbage, but if that detail isn't there they fixate on THIS OTHER SPECIFIC detail that makes the help shitty garbage, and if not that then something else, because it's actually just a shitty, obvious cover for the fact that they're selfish ingrates who resent other people's help.

And what happens when you get enough of the second kind of person, is guys who see a woman stranded with a broken car in the middle of the night say to themselves "well holy fucking shit if i try to help her then i'm just going to do or say something wrong and she's going to run onto the internet and call me a mansplaining oppressive piece of shit," and then they keep on driving.

And this is exactly what's already happening in the workplace, so way to fucking go, champ.👌

how you can be socially inept

This from the child who doesn't know how to gracefully accept help from another person?

the issue was not being offered help, but the guy insisting on helping despite me saying I was fine and I got it.

Right, except that's total bullshit, and you're actually just angry that someone tried to help you.

No, I said her anecdote about her knowing what she was doing was made up.

As people increasingly stop giving any kind of a shit about leftist slurs, their attempt to stomp out any opinion that hurts their feelings is increasingly going to come down to "stop saying things we don't like or we'll hit you in the head with a bat"

It's only too bad for them that anarchists are invariably a bunch of weak, malnourished bitches plagued with illnesses contracted from dumpster diving, while every guy in America who works out is voting Trump. But annies have never been good at thinking things through.

I think a lot of it is just sheer antisocial narcissistic selfishness. If she acknowledged that helping girls in trouble is a nice thing to do, well then fuck, she might actually have to be grateful or something totally horrifying like that.

But if she can reinterpret it as "benevolent sexism", she can accept the help - because it's being forced on her by oppressive male patriarchs - and then go home on the internet and shit all over whatever guy took the time out of his day to help her.

Of course where this eventually leads is that men say "fuck it" and stop helping women and go on TRP to learn to be sociopaths. And then /u/saturnapartments ends up on r/redpillfetishists, because feminism, having trained her to hate and fear men who help her in exchange for nothing, has pretty much only left her with the option of being attracted to sociopaths.

"Mansplaining" happens because of an extremely common experience among men, which is womansucking.

It's nice that u/saturnapartments has her 100% made up anecdote about the time she totally did too know how to fix that tire, but the reality is that most women don't know what the fuck they're doing and need a man to help them. And a lot of men happily do so, with no thought of recompense (example: The man who told saturn what slime was in the first place, probably while patching up her busted tire for free).

But those helpful men remind u/saturnapartments that she sucked too much to do it herself, and in the grand era of WomenPretendingToBeMenism that isn't supposed to happen. And so she resents them, and responds with womanwhining hysterics.

If you're a woman, you do mediocre work and coast on your looks until they fade fade, then attach yourself to a man who succeded because he worked hard, demand his money, and threaten to blow up the relationship if you don't get your way

I liked season 2 in that it addresses one of the weaknesses of season 1, which is that all of Frank's opponents in season 1 are credulous dopes. It doesn't come together perfectly but it's a reasonable effort.

Season 3 dealt with the trouble of how to craft capable enemies for Frank by making Frank much dumber than his enemies, and then made Claire even dumber than that.
