Is the pyromancer three-dimensional? Does the pyromancer exist within time? Is the pyromancer bound to cause and effect? Is the pyromancer made of normal matter that can be perceived by human senses?

If you anwered 'yes' to any of these questions, then no. If you answered no, then still no. The great ones were, the great ones are, the great ones shall be.

My theory about them being "unbeatable" is that people who perceive them "think" they are and such they become. Lovecraft's perspective on these beings when writing them out is one of horrified bewilderment, not of a determined resolve to kill or destroy them.

The mythos has them established as being beyond the comprehension of mortals, it's not just a terrified perception. They exist in higher panes of reality than us, and we are incapable of comprehending then as a two-dimensional being could not comprehend us in three dimensions.

But if you add a dimension to the two dimensional being: I.E make the square a cube, it allows the cube to enter the world of three dimensions.

And that's a world the 2D beings could not comprehend. They exist in a 2D world, that's what their entire reality is built around. 3D would be entirely incomprehensible to their minds. Just like the Eldritch creatures are to us.

Read: Flatland

Flatland is wonderful and is actually pretty applicable. A point could not kill a cube, because the point can only damage one infinitieth of the cube.

TL;DR:

If the gods exist at least 3 dimensions above us, we CANNOT kill them. It is literally impossible.
