Hello. I am a conservative free speech activist.
I have used your site. It is absolutely a safe space.
Most communities on imzy are about social justice. "The Fempire" has a presence there, and is suggested for people who are interested in current events and politics. A group meant to promote social justice, and formerly, harassing Men's Rights Activists.
Additionally, I tried creating "coontown" as it was an interesting case for freedom of expression, as "fatpeoplehate" was clearly not, as they did harass users. While I suppose it may have been fair to ban "coontown" due to its rough name, and I attempted to start a conversation with the "Jessica" that automatically notified me that I'm a community leader (much like Obama). Not even a minute later my account was kicked out of the safe space and it gives me "504 gateway not found" errors. You guys don't even ban users. You just try to fool them into thinking the site stopped working.
The political zone is clearly skewed to the left. From the wired article you believed had it correct about what imzy is about:
To help create this vision of a positive online community, Imzy will power the online forums of Lenny Letter, Lena Dunham’s feminist-themed newsletter. Other high-profile partners include Dan Harmon, Feral Audio and Black Girls Talking. “That’s really going to set the course of Imzy and our future,” says McComas.
I wonder when Ann Coulter will make an appearance.
Also from the article:
He concluded that the best way to curb harassment is to build a diverse user base and community standards from the start.
Your site doesn't have a "diverse" user base. It's predominately SJW. It's an echo chamber. So far, you guys don't even have "conservative" or "republican" communities set up. Yet you guys have Fempire, Black Lives Matter, and in your rhetoric to have a "diverse" user base it never occurred to you that, perhaps, you should get some conservatives in there.
The journalists aren't wrong on this one. It absolutely is a safe-space, designed to promote social justice activism. I wonder who the investors are. It is okay if you don't tell me, because I am going to find out.
I'd love to test out how you guys would respond to "human biodiversity" or "race-realism" communities, but you guys put me in the 504 corner and I'm outside the hugbox.
EDIT: I got a response from Jessica, but I am unable to reply to it, because of the pretend 504 errors. This messaged appeared in my email, from jessica.moreno@imzy-d5e0dc642c61.mail.intercom.io
It is literally not possible for the community, with a more appropriate name or not, to fit within our rules.
4chan, 8chan, Voat, and maybe reddit would probably be a better fit for you.
I believe that is a fair response, however, there was absolutely no discussion to be had, and I was immediately banned-but-not-banned. On a website that champions discussion, I found none to be had in my experience. Your people spent no time to determine whether or not if I was acting in good faith. It is very clear to me that you have people watching the site like a hawk to foment the tone you want, and while that would seem fair, it is in a clearly politically biased way.
The "with a more appropriate name or not" makes it seem like, to me, that some topics are just simply not allowed on imzy.com. I would hope that your community guidelines, that I have saved, would be a bit more explicit on what is-or-isn't allowed. Talking about race isn't: hosting harassment communities like "The Fempire" is.
I say that The Fempire is a harassment community, because their members told me to kill myself repeatedly in PMs years ago, and the reddit staff tolerated that, as that subreddit never got banned for that. In fact, I believe that there are former reddit admins made moderators in SRS.
I have to question why you would lie about imzy not being a "safe place" when it is clear to me the website exists simply because reddit isn't as SJW enough to your liking. I know you got fired here, just as the admin-turned-SRSer intortus was, and I don't know if that is a mark against you or not -- reddit's leadership has never been competent, so I'm not going to use that against you. However, I cannot believe you would write this post that I, again, have saved, and insist imzy isn't the hugbox it obviously is.
What is your involvement with SRS, Dan? Is Jessica involved with SRS? Have either of you ever posted in /r/ShitRedditSays, either as yourself or under a sockpuppet account?
