This is a rare case of the Blizzard circlejerk overpowering the microtransactions and online only circlejerks.

When did pro Blizzard even become a circlejerk, all I ever read on reddit is like:

WoW- Daed Gaem

Starcraft - Daed Gaem

Hearthstone - Daed Gaem

FUCK ACTIVI$ION

Like, why is it just now that people are obsessed with Blizz

Heroes of the Storm got some of the WoW crowd and LoL crowd and showed that they can make a new IP.

Because it's not being made by EA or Ubisoft

Why is it okay for Witcher to have a voiced protagonist but not Fallout? Why can Rockstar include hundreds of hidden collectibles but not Ubisoft? Why do so many sandbox games get criticized for feeling empty or full of life, but Metal Gear wins awards for being a big, nearly lifeless box of sand?

People just jump on these hate jerk bandwagons for totally arbitrary reasons and they never get off. Just because something is a game-breaking travesty in game x doesn't mean they won't love it in game y. This is what happens when thousands of entitled idiots are told that they're critics whose opinions are important.

I'd also like to add that what some consider to be acceptable isn't to everyone. For example, I'm not a fan of the idea of map and character expansions that require purchasing or you don't gryphon the content bu5 cosmetics I've long gone to consider a necessary evil in a lot of regards especially if the goal of the game is your release new maps, objectives, an champions for free.

Granted I was also fine with Fallout 4's DLC even though the first two are frequently rated on.

Did you have a stroke in the middle there?

[–]StarTrotter 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

Yes. Joking aside used my phone to type it and sometimes I don't notice my mistakes (be it autocorrect being strange or accidentally hitting the wrong letter/number. I'll try and fix it later.

I'd also like to add in that the hatejerk around Blizzard has seemingly shifted to a more positive outlook quite suddenly.

Totally agree about MGS. I'm a massive MGS fan and I still love TPP as a whole, but the level design and open world were quite stale.

[–]jdsrockin 13ポイント14ポイント  (0子コメント)

Good question. The Last of Us got away with it too though. Maybe everyone was too jerked out from the butt controversy to jerk again for the same game....

Blizzard.

That's it.

I'd say Blizzard was on unfavorable side of circlejerks lately with "Diablo 3 suxx", Nostalrius, Warlords of Draenor, dumbed down CCG/Moba design, pandering to casuals, you name it. Every other thread I read on Games had highly upvoted people shitting on Blizzard, talking how the company has betrayed everything they loved and how they'll never buy their games again.

I really thought people were exaggerating the whole TotalBiscuit thing until the Doom hatejerk suddenly swerved into total admiration after his videos. Astounding.

OP If you were a true gamer you would know the difference.

Microtransactions are all cosmetic and everyone loves the multiplayer CS:GO. Only r/Games is obsessed with single player only games.

Because it is objectively better than fallout 4, thought not quite as objectively good as Geraldo's blood and whine adventures.

Probably Blizzard and their ability to advertise/market the game really well.

Have you guys checked the top comments on the /r/Games Overwatch review thread? Half the top comments are very critical.

Well, the micro transactions are just slot lever pulls at cosmetics you can unlock playing the game. Nothing is pay to win and no heroes/maps are behind a pay wall.

They're providing free heroes/maps at least until they announce a sequel or expansion.

There is no "buy our season pass" on day one to make you feel you're buying a game with a years worth of content behind a pay wall.

It's $40 baseline for the game and not $60, which makes people a but more OK to buy a game knowing a $40 baseline payment will give them free content down the road too. Consoles are $60, but come with digital goods you could just ebay the codes for.

The most notable multiplayer only games are Evolve and Battlefront to rustle feathers. BF was $60 and a season pass for $50 at launch. Evolve was one game mode and a lot more hunter/monster content was behind DLC or a season pass. Both games make you feel like you're paying $100+ to get the full game.

because overwatch appeals to moba players, aka scum of the earth
