Also, the recent winning has more to do with a random influx of money that could have gone to any club (if Sheikh Mansour had an affinity for Birmingham, there's a decent chance Villa made the CL semis this year). United, while currently in a bit of a lull, built its winning upon youth development, periods of sustained managerial continuity, and commercial opportunities that were only possible because of sustained success.

Yep, we've built up organically to the behemoth we are today. City are new to the party, who knows if they'll stay there? Abramovich is learning that it takes more than just throwing money at it to create something sustainable.
