Also, the recent winning has more to do with a random influx of money that could have gone to any club (if Sheikh Mansour had an affinity for Birmingham, there's a decent chance Villa made the CL semis this year). United, while currently in a bit of a lull, built its winning upon youth development, periods of sustained managerial continuity, and commercial opportunities that were only possible because of sustained success.
