I created a "menu" system in JDeveloper (version 3.0) using JFrames and buttons. When a user clicks on a button option, the program is supposed to call an InfoBus Data Form to display data. Everything works great when I run it in JDeveloper. The deployment wizard runs without errors. However, when I try to run the program, the menus work but the forms do not appear. I have tried deploying it as a jar file and by copying all the class files to another directory both without luck (the menus work in both cases). I am trying to use the command line and typing in "java package.filename". When I click on an option that should call a form, the following appears in the command window (not a complete error list, the messages scroll out of bounds too fast for me to read):

I just started a fresh install with the latest installation medium. I boot into x86_64 live system and prepare the hard drive with gdisk and create a single partition.After that I make my ext4 filesystem. Mount /dev/sda1 to /mnt. I choose the nearest mirror in /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist which is the second server in line (Germany)and begin pacstrap /mnt base. After it is finished downloading and checking package integrity it fails on every key import.

EDIT: Reformated the drive and selected other mirror (first one in the US). Same result.Last error is error: failed to commit transaction (invalid or corrupted package (PGP signature))

Yeah, I had this problem on a PC that hadnt been booted in a year or so trying to install Arch. Clock was 2004. Dont worry; it happens to all of us.

In Windows XP it was possible to change the option to add the word shortcut to the name of a newly created desktop shortcut. I can't seem to find that option in Win-7. I think the little arrow is sufficient to indicate it's a shortcut and not a file
and I find it annoying to have to re-name every shortcut I create. Thanks - Bill

I'm not sure. I was imagining that there could be a service but I'm not seeing one. Another option which is at leastsimilar to having clipbrd.exe as a diagnostic is using an editor's Paste Special option. E.g. that at least would show the ClipBoard being

I can't edit the Word shortcut target in the shortcut that MS provide. If I create my own, call it Word and make the target point to WINWORD.EXE, the shortcut icon is different from the MS Word shortcut.
Why the difference?

It seems a bit odd to me. This sort of thing has always puzzed me. The MS versions can be deleted and replaced, so it seems daft to apply such restrictions but thanks for the answer.

When I set "Prompt user" or "Prompt user if hinted" shortcut is created without user confirmation.

The shortcut settings in the "shortcut creation" section of the Java Control Panel are ignored, and a shortcut is always created.

What is the work around to get a prompt asking the user if (s)he wants a shortcut icon created or not on their desktop?

BTW, dietz333 response doesn't make alot of sense to me. The shortcut information including the link to the icon is in the jnlp file. It would seem that a prompt option should be there as well.

It seems if I create a shortcut and add it to the Links space on the taskbar I get an unknown publisher error even for programs that have a valid certificate. If a create a shortcut from the same source file but place it somewhere else such as the desktop
I do not get the Unknown Publisher warning and it launches as expected. I'm not sure why the location of the shortcut would cause UAC to treat this differently. Is there a setting I can change to prevent the warning so I can keep my favorite programs in the
Links section without having to respond to the message every time?

I am using unkown computer support and am trying to figure out how I can use the unkown computer support collection and provide different variables. I was hoping if I created site collections and then linked the Unkown Computer collection under that
it would pickup the variables but that doesn't work.

The shortcut on the desktop created by the Home Server Connector software is called 'Shared Folders on Server'. I named my server 'HomeServer' and would have expected the shortcut to be called 'Shared Folders on HomeServer'. Applies to RC1 but was the same in the CTP. The shortcut itself works fine, it just needs to be named correctly.

We do not change label of the shortcut based on the name of the server, and we also do not stop you from doing this

Cause we're using a Mandatory Profile and like to have SCCM advertise the shortcuts everytime it can't find the shortcuts, I've created a powershell script that will delete all the scheduler history when a user logs off windows. When logging in again the
shortcuts are set again.

Another issue I'm dealing with are my MSI's. I've got a scenario in my head, but can't get it worked out atm.
We're using a program that will let us manage our roaming files for the users. But then Mandatory profile must be set.
So now we've got the solution for our virtual applications, they come up whenever a user logs in right now.
When a MSI in this situation is installed, then the shortcuts will be placed in the all users start menu folder. So this will place the shortcut to the particular machine a user has logged on to. We're using that particular program to let specific data
roam with them to another computer (like settings of that program). I love the way the MSI places an advertised shortcut, cause then the usersetting can be set to the user profile cause the MSI wil repair itself when the advertised shortcut is set. So this
part is also fixed...
Because several people will take place behind the desktop and have their own applications to install. All the shortcuts of the MSI's will be placed in the all users start menu. Not everybody may use all the applications that are fysically installed on that
computer, so we've placed some security groups on the folders and shortcuts. But all the shortcuts of all the MSI's locally installed with shortcuts in the all users start menu are visible to everyone.
Is it possible in some sort of way to hide the shortcuts to the people that do not have the right to use it?
Or is it possible that windows will show the shortcut only if the application is available. Cause then we'll set some rights on the folder of the application itself. I know that the GPO will only deploy the shortcut if the application is reachable.

This issue is solved. We will place the shortcuts locally on every machine to a custom folder. And place security groups on those shortcuts.
When a user logs onto the computer a script will copy all the scripts from this folder to the user start menu\programs folder. Cause the user can't access the folder he's not authorised to, the shortcuts will not becopied into the start menu of the user.
Now the MSI shortcut issue is solved!

Yes - I've already been down the Permissions route all to no avail. Clearly I have a corrupted User Account and will have to create a new one for future use. The ball ache is down to transferring all my existing data, programs and files to the new user

workstation

wants to do a net use mapping to my share. There is no problem when the

user is created on the root of my Organizational Unit.

Example: My server is located in context ROOT. I have a user Jeff

located in context ROOT. Jeff has no problem to mapping CIFS sharing

with command :

net use * \\server_nameshare_name password /user:Jeff

BUT, when another user Carl is located on a SubContainer CONTAINER1

lower than the Organizational Unit, and this user wants to access to this

share, we always get the following error on the net use mapping :

net use * \\server_nameshare_name password /user:ROOT.CONTAINER1.Carl

system error 1326 : failed to open session : unkown user or invalid

password.

Jeff and Carl have the same file rights on server.

I tried look up syntax of /user in net use, but I still get errors.

Any ideas?

Note that possible causes for such a "GET fail 503" error can be that that particular Sync server (sync-105-us-west-2) was overloaded or otherwise not able to handle all requests.
When the server recovers then it should get working again.

The point is just create key combination you will not use in normal common words.

When you create a shortcut to do something, it is supposed to be possible to define a short key (combination) that invokes the shortcut. I have a batch file that erases the contents of a folder I use for holding temporary files when grading students' work,
and I want to create a shortcut that runs that batch file. Most recently, I put the batch file and shortcut to it in a folder on my desktop and defined Ctrl+Shft+G as the shortcut key. It worked fine until I rebooted the computer today, but after the reboot,
the shortcut did nothing. I searched for answers and found an article from earlier versions (up through Vista) of Windows that said the shortcut had to be in the Desktop or a couple of other Start menu related places for the shortcut key to work, so I created
new shortcut on my Desktop that runs my batch file. That new shortcut did not work, either. So I'm looking for answers as to why rebooting would kill a working shortcut key combination, and what the requirements are to create shortcuts that have working shortcut
keys.

This is not really an issue on itself, as one can delete the bad shortcut and the message will no longer appera.The problem is that we have some customizations that open Word and populate a document programmatically. When this issue occurs, it actually
causes that particular process to crash out, so I'm trying to figure out why this message is occurring and how we could possibly prevent it. (Updating the customiziations is another option, but I want to check configurations first).
A few details that you would need to know:

We work in an environment where many people have two computers. Each user has a network 'SynchFolder' that follows their profile.
These shortcuts appear to be created accidentially by the users, when they drag and drop an application shortcut into this Synchfolder from one computer. The shortcut works fine on that computer, but (of course) does not work on the other computer - if
you try to use it, it comes up with the same message as above, or asks you to 'Browse' for the working locations.Not all shortcuts behave this way - some of them will straight up tell you that the path is invalid - these shortcuts do not cause any problem at word startup.The Documents, AutoRecover Files, Tools and Startup folder locations for Word are all set to this SynchFolder location. I believe this is set via GPO. I cannot change them, even using an admin account.

I have created hundreds of folder shortcuts in another folder. The problem is that each folder has "- shortcut" appended to it's name. Is there a way to rename the hundreds of shortcuts without damaging the first part of the folder's name? AND without damaging
the original folder and it's contents?

I'm trying to build my first operator interface under CVI. This application is very simple, no report view, no sequence file view. I can create debuggable executable in CVI. However, when I try to run it, it pops up an unknown error. See attached source code

Unfortunately you have various errors in your application, so it is hard to fix everything, but here are some hints:1. You need all three managers on the frontpanel (Application Manager, SequenceFileView Manager, ExecutionView Manager).2. You need to get Object Handles from ALL controls. You frogot some (The SequenceView control for example)3. Don´t mix up "SequenceFileVIew" and the "SequenceFileView Manager"4. Use the correct Object handles in your functions. Hi,I have created setup with installing application shortcut in start/programs.After installing application I have the Icon in start/programs.When I send this shortcut to desktop the Icon on the desktop are disappear.How can I solve it?Thank'sAlexei

When I restart the laptop , the shortcut disappeared .... and I can not find it anywhere. I created the shortcut include internet addresses.
OS: WIN7 SP1
And I found this problem some times.

I've been searching around the web about pinning a URL shortcut into the start menu but I haven't seen anything that will fits in to the thing that I need. I initially opted for a method in the GPO to create a shortcut and then use a registry import to display
in the start menu but this caused problems to users who pins other programs to the start menu as this ovewrites anything during start up. I then moved to scripting using VBScript to do it. Application shortcuts can be added so easily using verbs but not url
shortcuts. I read into a forum to create a shortcut of internet explorer and then add in the url inside the shortcut but this would mean my script would need to copy over the created shortcut because once you create the shortcut using a script the verbs disappear
once again. I then opted to doing an append of binary values inside the registry using a script. I was somehow successful but it all fails when a new item is pinned in the start menu cause I'm using a value I imported from the registry that represents the
url shortcut I need.
Sorry for the long story but I need your advice on what other things I can do to make it happen. Is there a way to add binary values inside the registry? What I do now is just export the current values of Favorites, Favorites Resolve and ProgramsCacheSMP
then simply append the values I have created that represents the url I want to be pinned in the start menu and rewrite it back to the registry. This method works and fails when you pin a new item. When a new Item is pinned, all the other pinned items disappears
and nothing is pinned anymore.

Thank you for all your replies! @Cruz_Daniel yeah booo!! Bummer, there are somethings that you want the user to see on their start menu. I had finished my script actually that appends the URL shortcut. The only problem is, when I need to change the words,
it takes a lot of effort to generate the Hexadecimal code then convert it to binary. Not to mention I need it in 4 different language. Thanks again for all your help!

I have a workflow that runs when the Process Code of the Opportunity changes to won. This WF does a variety of things. Recently I've been noticing the Opportunities are opening themselves up and I can't figure out why. There are no WF running that would
be causing this. It's not happening on every one just at random. We are using MS CRM 4.0. Any ideas?

HiI have created an installer using vs 2005, and created a shortcut of the exe in desktop. This is working fine but when i right click the shortcut in desktop , Target  is disabled and it's blankHow to solve this??

Visual Studio setups generate these advertised shortcuts, that's what they. There's no IDE support for switching these off, so you have to edit the MSI file with the Orca MSI editor. Go to the Property table and add the case-sensitive property DISABLEADVTSHORTCUTS and give it a value of 1.

I do not know exactly how I did it. However, I managed to alter the default of my .lnk file type to be a LINK FILE associated with an application (originally it was linked to the Windows Media Center and I changed the app to Notepad). I can only reassign
the file type to a different application using the Default Programs options. There must be some grass roots reference that can be tweaked to return to the original systems definition. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I wanted to create a shortcut for merging cells. I added the shortcut (option-N) to the system preferences like the other posts on this site have suggested. It shows up in Numbers immediately. I try to use the shortcut and all I get is a "beep." I check the drop down list under "Table" and I can clearly see "Merge Cells" and my newly created shortcut. I can click on THAT and it merges the cells. But my shortcut won't work.Sup with that?

Can I use a seperate Shortcut Bar for a newly created Dashboard? Currently when I select the Dashboard I've created, I still have the same Shortcut Bar for all of the other Dashboards created, which has Tempaltes that I do not want to be there.

I have a windows desktop application whose install program was created in Visual Studio 2008 using a setup and deployment project. I seem to get random complaints that when the user tries to start the program using the desktop shortcut, they are prompted
to insert the install CD. I think the problem occurs because the manifest attached to the 'smart shortcut' indicates that some installed component is missing. However, since I cannot figure out what is missing, I am unable to determine the root
cause of this problem. Does anyone know of a way to determine what windows thinks is missing when it promptsa user to insert the install CD?
It would be really, really useful if there was some 'details' button that showed what is missing so developers can fix these kinds of problems.

I have created an action to "Save as PostScript." Can I create a keyboard shortcut or am I only allowed to use the "start" button in the action menu? Sure would be great to be able to have a shortcut....

No, there's not a way to create custom keyboard shortcuts.

There sort of is if you can do what you need to do via JavaScript by creating a custom menu item and using the key combination to access the menu item, on Windows anyway. For example, in Acrobat 11 you can export to PS on Windows by typing Alt+F+H+M+P (not much of a shortcut), but you could reduce the number of key by setting up a custom menu item, and it could automatically save it in a particular directory with a file name that's determined by the script. So you could avoid the Save As prompt.

Why don\'t you simply use Zen 4 msi feature, and let your app put the msi

shortcut. You will get the msi self-healing feature to work.

The only drawback I can see so far is using CMD or VB scripts to start the

LNK file from NAL (it can\'t be put directly under Path to File in Zen

object)...

A shortcut created on Windows XP to an Excel 2007 file on a network share works fine for all XP clients with Office 2007. If a Windows 7 client tries to use the shortcut, it does not work. The Target property of the shortcut when viewed with the Windows
7 client is blank.

When users tries to execute a program from a DFS location, they get a message warning them from starting programs from unkown sources.
How can I avoid that? H: points to
\\domain.local\DFS\UserHome\username\

I am unable to access symbols in Word. I could at one time, but not now. I had created a shortcut and I am wondering if this is the cause of my problem.

Well, I have tried ALL of the switching, reinstalling, etc., several times, to no avail. I still am not able to click on the symbols box in order to insert. I thought I was able to do so in the past. Thank you for helping me so far.

Is it possible that the symbols feature was not included in the OEM copy?
