I've played soccer my entire life. These girls, simply practicing, are far better than I will ever be at any point in my life.

Edit: no, the exercise isn't difficult. But if any of you actually know what you're talking about, you'll notice how clean and crisp the touches are. And that is very impressive. And no, /r/quityourbullshit you can't do that. Maybe you can do that exercise, but you don't have the touch and ball control that they do, which was what I was referring to.

I presume you are American?

I presume you somehow think you are better skilled than 2 women who have played on the best women's team in the world?

Maybe not that, but what they are actually doing isn't that hard to do

Nope. Why would I think that?

That doesn't change the fact that I could have done the exercise in OP when I was, I dunno, 10 years old.

Did you miss that they're also throwing a tennis ball back and forth? You were doing this at 10?

Throwing and catching a tennis ball while moving the ball is not difficult, mate. If you spend a couple of hours a day playing football, moving the ball requires no real input as it is second nature.

So, in other words, I didn't miss it.

I've never played or done a drill like this for another sport so I'm completely impressed. If I was walking past some 10 year olds doing this, I'd probably stop and stare until everyone got creeped out.

Look at the gif carefully and break it down. The girls are looking at the football the entire time it is under their control. The tennis ball only comes into consideration once they have relinquished the football.

Furthermore, they are receiving and then rolling the football to eachother with the soles of their feet, over a very short distance and at a slow pace. Rolling the ball in this way makes it easier to maintain control and to make the ball travel in a straight line, with no spin, through the gaps in the ladder, as opposed to passing it with your instep or limiting yourself to one-touch passing.

It's a basic drill with a slight twist, but still a very simple task for anyone who has reached a basic level of proficiency in the sport. The girls themselves would agree. It's choreographed to make a basic drill look great for product placement, and it's working because everybody here is fawning over it.

You actually think the second exercise was difficult?

You actually think the first was something a 10 year old could do? They barely have the leg strength to attempt that shot in the corner.

You are severely overestimating the difficulty of those shots.

Agreed. My shooting technique was crap at 10 years old, and I couldn't have done that. The rest, though, as in the actual exercise, easily.

This shit is basic training drills. Is everybody in this thread a cripple or something?

No, they just aren't ignoring the fucking most impressive part of the gif like you are.

If you could take shots like they do you would be making money doing it like they are.

Yeah but what 10 year old has that skill, clean and crisp touch, and can easily put a ball in the top corners? None. And those that could probably went on to be pro. For example, Im willing to bet you couldn't do it at 10, and I'm willing to bet you can't do it now.

The USWNT, widely considered the best female players in the world, regularly lost to 15-17 year old boys when they used to scrimmage.

And those boys are faster and stronger than they are? Are you an idiot? Skills doesn't mean better, athleticism is the #1 factor.

I have to ask, what level of football did you reach in your life? How long have you played for? You must be speaking from a position of ignorance, because anyone who has reached even a basic level of proficiency should be able to replicate what you see in the GIF with ease. Go look at a training session for any half-decent U-15 team. These are really simple drills that require a relatively low level of skill.

This is not an attack on the girls in the GIF, but the skill on display is extremely basic. I'm sure the girls themselves would agree.

You do realize that for example the Swedish national female soccer team got beaten by a group of 15 year old boys, right? And Swedish males aren't even generally good at soccer compared to other countries in the world. The females that year got second at the Euro though.

Do you seriously think that skills = wins? Athleticism is the biggest part of soccer, teenage boys have more strength, speed, and stamina than women.

It's funny how you're completely disregarding the skill level of the U-17 AIK boys and assuming the win was purely due to athleticism, just because it doesn't suit your narrative. You won't even entertain the thought that the U-17s (who played with only 10 players) might have been more skilled.

I presume you like downvotes?
