I used to be an agnostic believer. That has changed over the past few years as I've looked into what I value in life and the world around me. I believe that education, information and technology (science as a whole) is where the future of the human species lays. In that I value evidence and facts in my world view.

I know that not everyone shares my views. And I know that some find my views threatening and harmful. But I choose not to believe in spirits, Gods or whatever you want to call it because there is no evidence. And if there was proof, if the Christian or Muslim or Jewish God showed itself to me I would expect an explanation as to why an all powerful and all knowing being would allow children to suffer and be raped by those that are supposed to protect them or why families starve.

To me it only makes sense that there is no higher power. And as a rational adult I am comfortable with that assertion. I have but one life to live and I want it to be a good life.

tl;dr I am an athiest because it makes sense to me.
