This is my first time making a Polandball comic.

You did a good job

AKA "Flair up"

Oh I don't know how! I was never able to figure out how to do that on any subreddits I participate in.

[–]MadameMewUnited States 7

Right side of the page - sidebar - "[] Show my flair on this subreddit. It looks like:" and there's a link that says "Click here to get a countryball." Make sure the box next to the first bit is checked, then click the second bit to select your countryball.

If anything's unclear, just ask. (You should definitely be able to find it via page search-and-locate though, i.e. CTRL+F)

[–]FourNinerXeroFlap Flap 6

Look on the side of the sidebar, it says "click here to get a countryball". Just click that and chose one you want and fill in "optional flair text" as well. You should get a polandballbot reply.

Hey I did it! Thanks for your help!

How bad is the situation in Kaliningrad when it comes to all the historic sites? The historic stuff in Malbork, Poland seems to be pretty well preserved.

Terrible. It was mostly bombed during the war and the Soviets destroyed most of what remained including the ruins of the castle so it's now basically just a drab and bland Russian city. There has recently been interest in rebuilding Königsberg but it would cost a fortune and it's more or less a pipe dream.

[–]ImTokiPagandom of Lithuania 11

If only it wasn't filled with Russians, would have insta grab it.

It should go to either Poland or Lithuania, I agree with that. Of course the allies did give you Memeland back so that's good.

[–]ImTokiPagandom of Lithuania 8

Actually Soviets expected us to take the rest what is now known Kalinigrad oblast, but W. Allies didn't really give much sh*t about E. Europe so Soviets got a better deal out of it. The only reason we got Memel/Klaipėda and Wilno/Vilnius back was because Soviets wanted greater support, since we already were at war with them.

AFAIK Lithuania decided not to take in Kaliningrad because we couldn't have afforded to rebuild it.

[–]ImTokiPagandom of Lithuania 2

I think A. Sniečkus also foreseen that it will be colonized by Russians.

Interesting. I always heard the story that the Soviets really wanted Kaliningrad because it was the only warm water port they would then have on the Baltic which would be very useful in winter since it doesn't freeze over.

[–]ImTokiPagandom of Lithuania 5

It fits more Russian Empire rather than USSR. They already occupied and annexed Latvia, with it's capital which was biggest port in the Baltics.

Would be interesting to see places where Lithuanian books where printed during period when Lithuania press was banned and where Daniel Klein lived if anything remains there.

[–]RezKezPolish Hussar 7

period when Lithuania press was banned

See? And you blame Poland. Always Poland. Everything Poland.

It's simple:

Is Poland involved? Is Poland involved?
No Yes
Blame someone Blame Poland

Did Poland get punished in any similar way after the 1863 uprising?

[–]RezKezPolish Hussar 8

Siberia, forced russification, yea the same stuff. That is pretty much when our russophobism has been born.

Before that the only problem with Russia was the fact they did not respect any agreements and could break them whenever they wanted.

After, we also realized that Russia is an asshole. And third and the last part of the image came out during the Cold War when it turned out that Russia also sucks at economy.

So yeah, 3rd Rome and stuff.

What about a banning of language?

[–]RezKezPolish Hussar 6

They didn't rly ban the language but they put a lot of restrictions here and there to make using of it difficult and pointless. Like for example official documents being only in Russian or the only allowed language of communication in schools or churches being Russian and shitt like that.

Yeah, that's what I've heard...

Didn't they replace the castle with a head of a concrete mech?

Which they didn't even finish! Well they cladded it when Putin arrived so it looked "finished." Such a shame.

[–]RezKezPolish Hussar 2

But look, if they didn't destroy it in a rage mode, now they would have had a nice tourist attraction.

Sometimes its better to hold back your emotions a bit.

Exactly.Brazilian south sucks so much because they sent Pomeranians instead of the good germans.

That's true for the whole of Brazil.

"When Portugal sent their settlers, they didn't sent their best. They didn't sent you. They didn't sent you. They sent people that had lots of problems, and they brought those problems with them. They brought drugs. They brought crime. They were rapists. And some, I assume, were good people".

[–]ThisIsMyRentalProudly 1/8th Czech! 1

There's a story I read several weeks ago on Reddit. It's about an exchange between God & a Brazilian, I think. Basically the point of the story is that Brazil is rich in resources & natural bounty, only its people are absolute shit.

East Prussia was oddly pro-Nazi and no one has ever been able to explain why to me. Even Marion Döhnhoff in her biography didn't give off the impression that East Prussia was so pro-Nazi. I think it may be because they were cut off by the corridor so they felt vulnerable.

There were several factors. First it was rather agricultural dominated, which correlates to a more conservative population. The WW1 experience put another factor of vunerability into it.

Since after the referendum there has been a huge campaigning for the "Germanfication", fueling nationalism. Hitler managed to put himself into the shoes as a successor Hindenburg, who was pretty popular there, so he managed to get the conservative monarchists onto his side. In addition to that, there has been a huge agricultural crisis in the 1920s, didn't help that exports got more expensive due to the corridor and also people immigrated back from the west during the depression, further feeding umemployment in East Prussia.

Source: Andreas Kossert: "Ostpreußen: Geschichte und Mythos" and "Masuren - Ostpreußens vergessener Süden" by the same author. Both books are available in German in Polish and got criticized by nationalists in both countries - so I think he found a good middle ground.

Ah thank you. When I finally get good at German I want to read that book. It's been on my list for a while now.

XAXAXA CRY NAZIS IS GOOD ACT.

Nothing justifies genocide. not even genocide.

This is why the Holocaust needs to be remembered. As a part Jew myself, some idiots talk smack to me saying that the whole Holocaust remembrance thing is just to help Jews. It isn't. It's to show that humans are capable of these atrocities, not just Germans, not just Russians, not just Serbians, etc. - everybody - and it's to remind the world to never let something like that ever happen again. Unfortunately, it still happens constantly, because people don't get it or don't care, however hopefully the remembrance of this event will help some people, at the very least.

There was no genocide.... Ethnic cleansing and genocide are often interrelated but aren't the same. In this case it wasn't genocide.

Yes, resettling Nazis is literally North Korea.

EDIT I found a good quote:

So most of them weren't card carrying members of the National Socialist party. That is not the crux of the matter. Personal convictions aside (and few of them were staunch anti-Nazis, let's be honest here), they were all more or less enthusiastic participants in a monstrous, unjustifiable, inhuman war of conquest and genocide. When you get warm fuzzies about their empty late war heroics, remember that all they accomplished was extra time to get thousands of concentration camp prisoners murdered each day the war dragged on. Truly an accomplishment to reflect on on your deathbed.

yeah I don't feel that much sympathy for East Germans....most of them collaborated with Nazi regime, and in fact that land was not German, it was invaded by Germans and later those Germans killed the previous people living there (who were Balts) the same way Soviets did with those said Germans after World war 2. Teutonic order and later kingdom of Prussia was bunch of bastards attacking everyone around them to loot and pillage, simular in way to Nazis. So sorry, you won't make me feel bad for them or their descendants, more so because German empire was born in those lands as well. Hell, most of Wehrmacht's behavior and military traditions came from Prussia, fuck that place.
