What will happen with Blind under Mourinho? (self.reddevils)

One thing is sure for me - he won't be playing CB next season (he won't, you'll see). Where does this leave him? Moving back to midfield? Being a cover for midfield and leftback positions, basically being a perfect utility player? He'll probably lose his place in the first team.

Think he may become the new O'Shea in that he'll be the ultimate utility player (however I don't know how much players who want actual playing time enjoy this)

I hope he has the chance to do an O'Shea (Cantona impersonation) chip. I think he'll be squad glue. When you need a defensive or deep-lying mid, a centerback or leftback, he'll be there. Who knows maybe he'll be a midfield playmaker for a game or a right back. As long as he's in good spirits, Blind is a good player to have around.

IMO his passing is too good to not be utilised, I think he should replace Carrick.

I recall the only good game was vs the mighty QPR at home.

He just isn't good enough, a Europa league calibre player.

Mourinho likes athletes, he's going to spend most of next season on the bench

Bench. Jose will buy a new CB to play alongside Smalling. Don't think he will play Blind at CDM.

I think Blind is the kind of player Mourinho plays with for a couple of reasons. Probably ~35 appearances next year with 15 coming off the bench.

He comes on to close games out in place of a more attacking player, hence 15 games off the bench, and he starts against the teams where we inevitably park the bus.

Mourinho is a pragmatist, so against teams that try to outplay us Blind is the kind of guy who you can put on a player for the entire game, and he won't let you have a sniff of the ball.

His passing is good, not the most consistent, but he's a very good player. IMO he's by far the closest thing we have to Carrick in this team, of course, other than Carrick.

Will probably be a left back back up. Can't see him playing as a holding mid or CB under José and rightfully so, he's too much of a liability in both positions. Left back is good for him.
