Forgive me if this is a little muddled, but it's pretty early in the morning. I just wanted to get this out here before I forgot about it.

I know the RPers like to go on about alphas and betas, and to me at least, that's pretty easily a reference to dogs. They also like to talk about how men 'naturally' dominate women, thus it stands to reason that male = alpha and female = beta. (I don't feel like hunting for the source, but they have at least one occasion argued that this is the natural way of things until the rise of feminism). I have two dogs, both mutts, both roughly the same size: one's a ~10-year-old female and the other's a ~1-year-old male. Thing is, though, between the dogs, the female is the alpha and the male is the beta. So is this analogy bullshit, as even my dogs don't follow these gender roles, or has feminism transcended into the canine world?
