Somehow the cop found this less funny than I did.

Obviously we don't see it from the cops perspective but it really doesn't seem like the force is necessary. You can see from his face he's not acting from a place of logical calmness though.

The bike falls over from the crash and then there's a jump cut, then he's back upright on the bike. To the officer, it might look like he's ready to drive off, hence the reaction.

Nope, the rider gets back up and then stands there on the bike, trying to say something to the cop as he exits his car (the audio is muffled). Cop then tackles the man (we can see his head hit the concrete) and then pulls off the helmet to put him in a headlock. We can see the bike standing, so the biker likely wasn't even on the bike after the collision.

This biker is a dangerous idiot who is putting everyone else on the road at risk. He got lucky that he only ended up in a low-speed accident. But I can't see any evidence that this guy was resisting or fleeing.

If he was on the bike when he got tackled, it would have fallen over or at the very least wobbled. completely unnecessary force. However, yes the biker is an idiot.

I really hate reading/hearing stuff like this...as if everyone in the room is so dumb that we don't realize that hes doing something stupid... of course hes fucking stupid. Also, 9 times out of 10 people who say this tend to so blinded by zealotry that they don't stop to think about all the stupid shit they do. Sorry...just grinds my gears.

Idk it doesn't even look like he got back on the bike, it looks like he stood the bike up on its kickstand and was standing beside it

Rider like that tend to try to run. Coos gotta get him off that bike as quickly as possible, which doesn't usually come with calm negotiation.

Has anybody else also pointed out that just popping a wheelie is itself an arrestable offense?

This guy was driving extremely aggressively, and put people's lives in danger, including his own.

Watch the actual video...they are driving on the shoulder, crossing the double yellow, run a red light, etc. in that short video. They are all a bunch of pieces of shit.

If you watch his buddies video, they do a bunch more stupid shit as well. Douchebags all around. All of them.

But Reddit hates cops so he's in the clear.

No, he is a jerk. No one is contesting that.

[–]Prouxy 1

but you can clearly see the bike is on his stand when he get knocked out the bike

[–]hay_diddle_diddle 9ポイント10ポイント  (1子コメント)

I thought he had a crazy look on his face too, but if you slow it down you can see that he really doesn't.

I thought his mouth was open and yelling/angry/just seemed off.

What I thought was his mouth is just a massive mustache. Dude looked calm to me once I realized that.

I think it's necessary to choke people as dumb as that rider, personally.

Anyone who tries to wheelie into an obvious cop car deserves to be choke slammed.

Do remember this rider has damaged public property that is paid for by tax dollars while being a dumbass on a public road and clearly not in control of the bike. Police sometimes have an obligation to use force.

Police sometimes have an obligation to use force.

Only if the person is resisting arrest or is a danger to themselves or others... the guy was standing still and off his bike according to the comments on the full video.

Because the biker was endangering lives to be a jackass and was 100% definitely going to run/jump on someone's bike after running into the cop. If anything the "force" was light on him.

Can you even imagine the kind of paperwork that wheelie just doomed the officer to? He may be responding in the just the right amount of anger... besides, he was technically just assaulted with a vehicle...

There's a lot more to this video. When the cops arresting this guy, the others are yelling for other bikers to hit him. I'm not one to not hold cops accountable but he was alone, the riders were already acting out before this gift and whatnot.

The guy is riding a 500lbs chunk of metal like a dangerous asshole, putting other drivers at risk... fuck him.

you pull shit like this you are getting arrested and you deserve it. Did that look like safe driving to you? I don't know what it is about a motorbike engine that makes people riding one act like such dick heads

Guy is still a fucking retard from the last time this was posted...

...think he'd learn better by now.

I bet he is gonna do it 2 or 3 or 100 more times before he learns and we don't see him do it again.

For people who want to bash the cop:

SOURCE

0:38 The police car races in front of the bikers
0:50 Police car pulls in behind the pick-up truck containing people and motorcycles in the bed
0:55 The pick-up is slowing down and pulling onto the shoulder (which is what you do when a police car comes up behind you with it's lights flashing)
0:57 Impact.
1:03 The take-down begins
1:04 "Let go of me!"
1:11 The helmet comes off
1:15 The cyclist is clearly seen grabbing the hemet by the chin-guard
1:16 Repeated motion and sound matches the officer's account that the cyclist was hitting him with the helmet (I count two impacts)

Thus, for those of you who like to bash the cops, this guy did it. He bashed the cop. Twice.

This second video SOURCE shows the pick-up at 1:10 pulling away from the officer. THAT ladies and gents is it's own criminal offence for the driver of the pick-up.

I'm know nothing of the actual offences, but as a citizen, I would like have seen something in the following areas:
Reckless driving (wheelie)
Endangering other drivers (passing a car doing a wheelie)
Damage to government property
Attempting to flee the scene of an accident (second video shows the cyclist raising and pushing his bike)
Attempting to flee the scene of a crime (Either or both of these charges)
Resisting arrest ("Let go of me!" should be enough)
Assaulting a police officer
Interfering with a police action (hitting the police car while it was engaged in a lawful traffic stop)
Aiding and abetting (the pick-up left)

Many of these charges would be a stretch, but I think they should fit.

[–]Solous 3

All of those make sense except for the biker trying to leave. I've had my share of knocked over bikes and it seems to me after a few views that he was just righting his bike after it tipped.

I'll agree that this action looks a bit ambiguous. However, when you've had an accident with a police car and you were being a dumbass at the time, it is in your best interest to just sit still and await instructions. If it's a riotous biker scene, like in the video, the best action is to immediately lay face down and submit to arrest.

In a car, put your hands on the dash and don't move. On a bike, sit down and place your hands on your knees. Make no other moves. Being a dumbass and hitting a police car requires you to be as cooperative and compliant as possible.

Get people like me on the jury, I'll see attempt to flee. Get people like you on the jury and it's just righting your bike. If the biker immediately sits on the ground and looks non-threatening, all that's left to question is the officer's reaction.

I have to assume that all bikers know that wheelies are illegal behavior and what the penalties are for doing wheelies.

Looks like the guy the cop was pulling over originally got off free.

Unless the police officer had a dash-cam to record the plate or had called in the plate. If you're speeding or driving recklessly and you get away from the police, they can still show up at your door and write you a ticket.

Plus eluding police or failing to stop or something else. They'll add to the ticket if they have to stop at your house and make a courtesy call, that's for sure.

It's interesting how the police classify etiquette.

A police friend of mine tells me that if an arrestee is being an asshole, they'll "help" them into the squad car. This means hitting their head on the frame of the back door and saying "Watch yourself, sir."

My brother-in-law got arrested for DUI. He had the same treatment. I know for a fact that he's an asshole when he's drunk. He likely deserved an attitude adjustment. My wife's family saw it as police brutality. My opinion of his arrest is not very popular in the family.

Dude. There is no grab or punch in any video you linked.

Seriously. There is nothing at all. The guy slammed into a cop car being a dumbass. I'm not sure why you need to tack on this weird fantasy, but it's not supported by anything you've shown.

I captured this and slowed it down to 1/10th speed. The helmet is stable on the ground. The cyclist reaches out and grabs the helmet by the chin guard. IT IS AT THIS POINT THAT HE HAS A WEAPON IN HIS HAND. No "weird fantasy" here. You can clearly see the shadow of the arrestee's arm in full control of his helmet. Bye bye jail time.

HERE YOU GO

He then swings the helmet into the officer. Here's the video from the 1:13 mark.

That does help actually, but yeah, it's not there. He's being choked and his arms flail around and catch on the helmet. It then spins in place on the ground when he unhooks his hand. He's already in a chokehold this entire time.

You are clearly a more skilled video editor than me. Could you not cut your slowed down version as soon as the guy touches the helmet? Let's follow those frames through the two hits you describe. Maybe it's just too fast for me, but I have a feeling those frames were inconvenient. I'm having trouble understanding why else you cut before the hits that are so clearly shown.

The normal video shows no hits that I can see, just spinning.

if you pause-play the video between between 1:15-1:16 you can tell hes picked up his helmet and thrown it.. it has frames showing him in a choke hold. there's no time there for him to have hit the officer with his helmet

Plenty of time to hit the officer. It takes a fraction of a second to hit someone with a helmet.

you're an idiot if you pause-played that and think that's possible at the time you suggested

Gotta love the logic of "2 of our motorcyclist friends died, we'll get 40 people and have half drive in the wrong lane" (Look at the other videos on the news story, plenty of bikes in the wrong lane)

"We reached out to Streetfighterz cofounder Adam Hunziker, who told us the rider spent a couple months in jail and is currently in desperate financial straits due to mounting court costs."

His friends should bail him out. After all, they bailed on him when they saw the take-down. I wonder where the sense of camaraderie went?

I like how people are saying the cop used excessive force, but neglect that fact that fuckers like these regularly swarm onto highways and block them off to do shit like this (which is exactly what happened here) and then get away with it because there's just too many of them for the cops to handle.

Seriously. Fuck bikers like these.

A couple weeks ago, I was stopped at a light and a bunch of bikers came through, 2 of them blocked off either side of the street at the light I was at forcing me to sit through a green light so they wouldn't break up their little "gang". Well the guy in front of me tried to ride a wheelie out of his stop and he lost it switching gears. Dumped him on to his back and I got to watch him skid down the road and his bike end up in a strip mall parking lot. Really made my day.

When there's a video of an angry cop aggressively taking someone down, and Redditors are overwhelmingly rooting for the cop, you know you done fucked up.

I haven't seen a single person defend the biker...seriously, where do you see that?

Why is it impossible to notice the cop flips out more than was necessary AND think the bikers are douchebags?

lol there is other video, from what its looks the "leader" going fast and passing like 4 red traffic lights after check his "friend"... what a bunch of idiots. There is a diference between freedom and debauchery.

What seems to be the problem, officer?

Wow I never thought the U.S. would get so soft. I've seen 12 y/o wrestlers get slammed harder then that. Yes I realize that there are plenty of cops out there who shouldn't be on the force, but God damn people need to chill out.

Alright all of you anti-cop, anarchist loving retards... I commented on this a long time ago last time it was reposted. I'll break it down Barney style for all of you. That cop looks to be escorting that truck for whatever reason, it looks like a state works truck with cones in the back but that's beside the point, the truck was clearly slowing down and the cop followed suit. The cop did NOT brake check, nor did he purposely make that dumbass rider crash into him. As a rider myself, I despise this type of rider. He's an idiot plain and simple. Popping a wheelie on a public road is entirely illegal and punishable by jail time and fines, and not only did he do that, but he crashed into that patrol vehicle causing the bumper cover to fall off. That's destruction of government property added to his already large list of punishable offenses. I can also say as an ex-soldier, the cop was entirely in the right. When you're surrounded by a threat, in this case the other bikers, who will definitely help this guy out given the chance, you have to act as quickly as possible. It's pure adrenaline going through him at that point, as well as anger. To me, knowing these types of riders, he was definitely going to run at some point, and the cop in an agitated and adrenaline fueled state took him down. That biker was a little shit and got everything he deserved. So fuck your little anti-cop circlejerk.

Second Reply:

In THIS VIDEO we get an illustration of your point "who will definitely help this guy out given the chance". The video shows that the pick-up was indeed part of the crew. If you listen to the audio, they state "The got the truck. We gotta go get them. Let's go." And what do they do? THEY GO BACK!

When they get back, the video cyclist tells his partner "Take em. Take em. Go get him off." Green biker says "They know me." Videographer says "Take the door. Kick that shit."

There are enough tattoos in this video for them to clearly identify someone. THESE ARE CRIMINALS. They need to be arrested and do time in prison for their offences.

Edit to add: The white car shows up in the beginning of this video. They appear to be part of the crew. Amazing how the arrested biker would rather hit the police car than his friend's car.

/u/k1ll3rInstincts:

...That cop looks to be escorting that truck for whatever reason, it looks like a state works truck with cones in the back but that's beside the point, the truck was clearly slowing down and the cop followed suit.

THIS SECOND VIDEO shows the truck to be a private pick-up with motorcycles and people in the bed. It was pulling to the shoulder when the cyclist rear-ended the police car. I believe they were part of the motorcycle event and the police officer was pulling them over. The video shows them leaving the scene as soon as they knew they were in the clear.

THAT is my only correction to your statement. Everything else you said is FUCKING SPOT-ON!

For the police, this is a rodeo event. You've got calves running amok and you need to lasso as many as you can as fast as you can. The difference being that you might piss off the other calves who will attack you while you rope another.

To everyone else: LOOK AT THE FUCKING CHAOS, ASSHOLES! This is not a situation where you say "Excuse me, we seem to have had an accident. I'd like you to roll your bike to the side of the road where we can discuss the situation. I may have to arrest you later." NO! This is a situation where the cyclist was being a fucking menace to society. He passed a car while doing a wheelie. He was clearly unable to maintain control of his stunt. He was about to hit either the white car or the police car. According to the second video, he is clearly lifting and pushing his bike when the police officer took him down. THAT gets you a quick take-down. The biker said "Let go of me!" Which is resisting arrest. This means the police officer is going to have to use his physical training to overpower the resisting arrestee. That is a situation of the cyclists making. The take-down is not going to look like a calm encounter. It is going to be quick and violent and I'm glad that officer had the training to do it.

This police officer should clearly NOT be a police officer. Our law enforcement needs to be the best humanity has to offer. Tackling a passive, un-resisting person to the ground because of your frustration or anger is absolutely uncalled for. He should be off the force, and should be prosecuted for assault. If I was lightly rear-ended by a cop (or anyone for that matter), would it be appropriate for me to tackle him/her to the ground?! Why do we have such low standards for our law enforcement agencies?
