Lingard liked a couple of Thank you LVG & Goodbye LVG posts on Instagram. That's about it I think.

Strange that Schweini had nothing to say. Considering the fact that he is very active on social media and apparently was on good terms with LVG.

Blind came out and said that he felt LvG deserved more respect.

Memphis also spoke out, but he didn't seem to care too much.

I think Blinds comments were more about the treatment he's had from the media over the past six weeks. No way he was slagging the club over it.

Agree, sorry if it seemed like I was implying he was slagging the club, not my intention.

Yep. Post fa cup blind said he hoped the manager wouldn't leave

Wasn't it Danny Blind who said that he deserved more respect, not Daley?

I feel like Memphis was happy.

erm why? Isn't LvG like his father figure?

[–]GGMU1992Jose Mourinho 5ポイント6ポイント  (1子コメント)

I thought that too! But apparently things changed. RvP also said the LvG the manager of the National Team and LvG the manager of United were two totally different people.

They'll have been told by the club not to say anything I guess. If not, I doubt they'd want to jeopardise what the incoming manager thinks of them by showing any loyalty to van Gaal.

Lol what??? They're risking being rejected by the new boss because they liked his friend and mentor? Even if that wasn't the case, why would it make any difference?

I don't think Lvg ever lost the players. They all seem to really like him.

Hatchet job, and a very obvious one, from Mendes.

It will be a decade but I can't wait for the books to be published. My impression is that the club has asked the players not to speak about the firing.

Danny Taylor is a reliable journalist, not someone who parrots what Mendes feeds him. He was also formerly the Guardian's Manchester correspondent so he's got decent sources at the club. The reason it's come out now is that the players wouldn't want to be quoted, even anonymously, while Van Gaal was still manager.

If it was a Mendes hatchet job it would have come from Duncan Castles at The Times, he's Mendes' and Mourinho's go to journalist.

Why would Mendes need to do that? The results spoke for themselves, and Mourinho was the only obvious choice to replace him. He didn't need to undermine van Gaal, the poor results were already doing that.

Besides, there have been numerous reports over the last two years that would corroborate a lot of what was said in that article. It also matches the same kinds of problems that eventually got him sacked from past clubs.

Just because the players were professional enough to keep quiet publicly and offer LvG support doesn't mean they weren't also planning to leave to get away from him.

I always had the feeling the players were behind him 100%. all the way until the end. It's really interesting noone's said much
