Knowing Fame, at least what we do know about her, she wouldn't claim to be wearing a certain designers dress if she knew it was fake. I smell something fishy. + I followed her snapchat during her time in Cannes and she talked about the dress she was going to wear on the red carpet being late and came last minute.

For anyone that doesn't get it, this is what happened:

  • Fame claimed to be wearing a Zach Posen dress on the red carpet for Cannes.

  • Anthony Canney saw this, jumped in, and said that Grimes wore it last week on a TV show, making it impossible for Fame to be wearing it, since it couldn't be refit that quick. This made the dress a forgery.

  • Zach Posen's office claimed it wasn't his dress.

  • Then Anthony went on to state that forgery in the fashion world isn't being taken seriously enough, as proven by the people in this thread saying he's 'overreacting'.

It's in the comments here. I'm reading it as Zac saying "I didn't send them the dress so they must have bought it." while Canney apparently read it as "That's not my dress"

I looked at the gown on Grimes and it looks about 2 sizes too big for her (she had to belt it and it was still billowing) so I don't think it's too unreasonable that Miss Fame actually fits into it with no alterations. But also, her performance was on May 4th. The premiere that Fame attended was on the 14th. That actually does give a good amount of time for fittings.

Also, you can buy Zac Posen off the rack so it's very possible that the stylist working with L'Oreal who dressed Fame didn't get it directly from Zac Posen's people.

I mean it's not a good look if what he's saying is true, but unless he looked at the dress in person he can't really say for sure.

Ooh thanks, I didn't know which season it was from. But seeing how it's from two years ago, it's definitely possible that it was acquired through retail. Or that ZP's people don't have record of every single gown especially if it's more than 4 seasons old.

At the same time, it's a two-year-old dress. More than one copy of the dress assumably exists in the world, so I don't know what the lead singer of the Grimes has to do with this.

They tear each other down. She could have bought it herself (I'll be truly shocked if this turns out she lied) but they are going to lengths to make sure everyone knows Fame didn't get it directly from Zac. They do this shit all the time in the industry. Fame is going to have to prove it is a real Posen now or else they'll gossip about it forever. Fashion's a harsh world.

Couture means hundreds of hours went into perfecting every single detail in a look/dress. It's a pretty big deal if you create a cheap knock off and attribute it to someone else, whose calibre is much higher than what you're wearing.
